Zauberzeug's Shop Announcement

Welcome to the original home of hand-dyed neon, fluorescent, blacklight-reactive spinning and felting fiber and yarn! I always welcome custom orders for hand-dyed fiber and yarn, including color matching requests. Check out my classic colorways here:

Don't settle for low-quality imitators -- get your hand-dyed fluorescent fiber from Zauberzeug, the original dyer of super-saturated, blacklight-reactive neon colors!

Other news:

In addition to dyeing, carding and spinning fiber, I work full time and attend grad school part-time -- as a result, custom orders can take 2-3 weeks to produce. Please keep this in mind when ordering from my shop! I can always be reached via Etsy Conversation or email if you have any questions or concerns.

I am slowly-but-surely designing an entirely 3D-printed, modular spinning wheel. The general design and editable .stl files for 3D printers will be available for free at under a Creative Commons BY-NC-SA license (see website for more information).

Zauberzeug's Shop Policies

Hi there! Thanks for visiting my shop and reading the policies page. I hand-dye fiber, millspun yarn, and nylon 3D printer filament -- pretty much any material that takes acid dyes. I welcome custom orders from around the world, and love to chat! You can contact me via Etsy Conversation or email me directly at zauberzeug [at]

I work full-time in Manhattan and live on the South Shore of Long Island, which means I have a 4-hour round-trip commute to/from work every weekday. Since I'm away from my studio (er, repurposed extra bedroom) for at least 12 hours every weekday, my made-to-order items usually have a 1-2 week lead time. I do most of my fiber work during the weekend. When I can find time to relax, I spin yarn from a wide variety of fibers.

Liebe Kunden, die Deutsch sprechen: Ich kann ein bisschen(!) Deutsch sprechen... Aber nur ein bisschen :)

I accept payments through PayPal, credit cards through Etsy's Direct Checkout, and Etsy gift cards. I prefer custom orders to be paid in full before I begin production, but I am open to alternative arrangements, depending on the details of the order.

Please note that made-to-order items (most batts and kits that include batts) ship within 1-2 weeks. All made-to-order listings state this timeframe.

Please read my International Shipping Policy (below) before placing an order that will be shipped outside of the United States.

I ship items to countries other than the United States only AT THE BUYER'S RISK -- I cannot replace packages that have been lost or damaged in the mail. This is a firm policy. You can track your package's location until the point it leaves the United States using its customs number, which I will provide to you upon shipping your package.

Packages are sent via USPS First Class Mail International Parcel; your package may be in transit anywhere from 1-3 weeks (shipments to Great Britain seem to take the longest). Please contact me if you would prefer a different method of shipment. Additional charges may apply for alternative shipping arrangements.

I am not responsible for any customs fees that you may incur as a result of importing goods.

If delivery issues arise, please contact me via Etsy convo and I will work with you to resolve the issue -- both of us may need to contact USPS, depending on the issue.

I will ship your purchase as soon as possible -- please note that batts are made-to-order unless otherwise stated. Items that are ready to ship, such as one-of-a-kind skeins of yarn and hand-dyed roving/top, will ship within 1-3 business days after I receive full payment for the order. I'll let you know as soon as possible if I expect any delays.

Fiber and yarn are shipped via USPS First-Class Mail or USPS Priority Mail depending on the total weight of the package, unless otherwise noted in the listing description or discussed prior to purchase. All shipments to the USA include Delivery Confirmation (tracking).

***PLEASE let me know if you would like a different shipping method BEFORE you purchase an item!*** I'm happy to ship using either envelope/polybag or box, or a carrier other than my standard carrier, USPS. Additional charges may apply to alternative shipping arrangements.

Refunds and Exchanges

If you need to make a return or exchange, please contact me through Etsy convo: -- I am glad to help. I can only accept new (unused) and unaltered items for return or exchange. Buyer must pay return shipping, unless I mistakenly sent the wrong item.

Additional Policies and FAQs

Custom Orders
I would love to create a custom fiber colorway for you. I can dye wool, silk, and other protein-based fibers in any solid color or color combo you'd like. I use professionally produced wool/silk acid dyes in a full palette of regular colors and fluorescent/neon colors. My fluorescent fiber is blacklight-reactive -- it will glow under blacklight!

If you're looking for a certain kind of wool, fiber or fiber blend that is not on display in my shop, please contact me. I will do my best to accommodate your request. I have a generous selection of fiber in stock, and I am able to source a wide variety of fibers from around the world.

Looking to create or match a specific color palette? I can match colors from material samples, photographs, anything. Contact me via Etsy Conversation or regular email for more information!
