Announcement   Zen Brush original Japanese scroll-like paintings and cards: the Chinese Zodiac , Buddhas, Enso, and Haiku calligraphy, Zen paintings, custom portraits, custom paintings for your meditation space, altar and children's room art painted by me, a zen monk. Very affordable original art.

Zen brush painting is a meditative art as you breathe, let go and let the brush go. One of a kind experiences, ink flows and one of a kind paintings.

My work is in public and private collections and have illustrated two books, Zen by the Brush and a James Beard-nominated cookbook, A Taste of Heaven and Earth. My illustrations have appeared in the Buddhist journals, Tricycle Magazine, Shambala Sun, Zen Notes and Spirituality and Health.

Recently I have done commissions for personal zodiac animals for children's rooms, nursery art, baby showers, weddings and anniversary presents, memorial gifts.

It was an absolutely delightful experience ordering this piece from Zen Brush. The carefree style combined with the cute image was exactly what I was looking for for my niece's birthday, but the size of the listed picture did not fit standard frame. So I asked Seiko if a standard size could be made. Seiko created a custom listing for me, made three versions of original painting for me to select from, double checked my choice, added a personal note for me, professionally packaged and shipped to my niece. All of these, from my first contact with the shop to delivery, happened in 6 days!!! All my Etsy purchases have been very pleasant and this one is extraordinarily. THANK YOU SO SO MUCH, ZEN BRUSH. I am a big fan now :D

About

Zen by the Brush Paintings, Buddhas and Inspirational art

I developed my zen style of brush painting during my monastic life in New York State and in Japan. I love the paintings of Paul Reps, Sengai, Hakkuin. I have illustrated two books: a James Beard nominated vegetarian cookbook "A Taste of Heaven and Earth"( Harper Collins) and "Zen by the Brush" (Stewart, Tabori and Chang). My work is in public and private collections.

I started painting Chinese Zodiac new years cards to give to my friends about 12 years ago. In Japan, it is a tradition to send new years greetings on January 1. And thought to share "hey maybe others would perhaps like to do the same."

12 x 12 inch paintings fit in a "album" cover frame perfectly.
