Stray Dogs and Stray Antiques

I started selling antiques to pick up a little money after I lost my 25-year editing job. I fell in love immediately with the telltale signs of old wood, old hardware, old crazed porcelain, lamps with big paddle switches, and so forth. And i found that by learning to repair things i could find really amazing antiques at prices i could afford and savings i could pass on to customers. So a lot of what I do is restoration. And my philosophy--being a dog lover--is that rescuing an antique from neglect and the resultant deterioration that occurs is a lot like rescuing a pup from the pound--once he/she gets to your house, grows comfortable, and realizes life has just improved, you have a whole new dog on your hands. The same is true of a venerable antique.

I want to tell prospective customers that my prices are not cheap because I sell quality items. I search high and low for them and if they need repairs I do them carefully and with love. You will--hopefully--always get what you see and read about on my site. I often have the experience where something I purchase disappoints me. I never want my customers to have that experience and I think I can confidently say that I have stayed in business this long because I have secured a reputation for imparting quality antiques. I hope you will feel this if you purchase something from me. I want you to be happy.

I am a life-long writer who, after a 25-year editing career, decided to make a change. Antiques turned out to be the perfect choice for me. This is the greatest job I've ever had. And I love selling on Etsy. The people are so great.

Shop policies

Thanks so much for visiting my store. I believe sites like etsy are critical in this day and age of the big box store. We are giving crafts people and vintage dealers a place to peddle their wares. Wonderful! I try to find the best stuff I can at reasonable prices.

Accepted payment methods

  • Pay with Visa
  • Pay with Master Card
  • Pay with American Express
  • Pay with Discover
  • Pay with PayPal
  • Buy with Apple Pay
  • Pay with Sofort
  • Pay with iDeal

Payment by Paypal, direct deposit, or credit card. Unfortunately, I can no longer accept layaway plans. Too many people don't follow through. However, I am often amenable to negotiating the price. So if you love something but think you can't afford it, please approach me with an offer. I will try to work with you!
Items are shipped via USPS, FedEx or Greyhound. I try to state in the listing how the item will be shipped. If you have questions, do not hesitate to ask.

Thank you for your patronage.
Refunds and Exchanges
I try to represent all the items I sell as accurately as I can. Etsy only allows for five pictures, so if you feel you want to see more, please ask. If you receive an item and feel it wasn't accurately portrayed in the listing, please return it within 14 days and I will issue a full refund. After 14 days, the item is yours.
Additional policies and FAQs
I'm happy to search for specific items, so let me know if there's something particular you're looking for. I love a challenge!
