Saw over 70 Elks in Point Reyes Tule Elk Reserve. Totally made my day! heart_eyes
Went to Yosemite last week, my niece was so impressed with the stars in the dark forest. She was hoping we could see some deers in the woods. We didn't see any, but saw a young bear tearing down a dead tree for bugs instead!slightly_smiling_face
Big trees are not only looking good. They provide nice and cool shade. We enjoy them more in summer. Skirts have a very similar effect too.laughing

About

Working for what I love to wear

I grew up in Taiwan, studied graphic design in college, and I worked in several advertising agency creative departments for 12 years. Working at a creative job for so long, my mind was trained to always look at everything in a creative way. Not only did I need to create ideas for clients, we also needed to create ideas for coworkers birthday parties, holiday parties, company outings, even our company paper cups needed a creative design on it! It was really a fun job, but I got tired of clients changing our ideas for any kind of reason and of the office politics. After a morning’s meditation, I realized that I shouldn’t waste my time and energy on those things; I should put my energy into the things I really love. So I quit my job, moved to Spain to study Spanish and Illustration for 3 years. I took a lot of illustration courses in Barcelona, and one of them was screen-printing. Everybody needed to draw an object for printing, instead of using a random photo or a drawing not of their own. I drew a little girl standing on boxes (now it’s a signature design in my shop: http://www.etsy.com/listing/82963642/a-little-girls-wishes-on-size-medium ) and my portrait with cat whiskers. It was a magic moment when I saw my own drawing printed on my t-shirts. My roommates and classmates suggested that I sell them in the shops of Barcelona. So I started making and selling my designs in 2006. That’s how my new career started! I met my husband in Barcelona during that time. After studying, I got married and moved to the US. I continue drawing and designing unique clothing for myself and for my lovely customers who connect with my art!
Now I like to print my drawing onto skirts or dresses, because I like to wear them and they have a bigger space to work with than t-shirt do. And I like to use different materials in addition to screen-printing. For instance, hand-stitching buttons, beads, stones, colorful felt, canvas, lace, stripes, fabric balls or embroidered flower. There are so many materials and so many ways to make fun and unique apparel and I’ll never get tired of it!
