About

Generations of creativity

PAST---Some of the products available in my Esty store were developed 40 years ago (70's & early 80's) with my father. While he was very creative & gifted,he was also mentally ill & unable to support his family. When I was a teenager, my Mom left thinking that it would force him into getting a job. Instead he pulled me out of school & we went on the road. Thus began the adventure of surviving selling the craft items we had designed. Young, inexperienced, uneducated but suddenly with the responsibility of caring for both my Dad & I, I quickly honed my sales skills going door to door, & to business's. Eventually my selling skills improved & so did our skills at living "on the road". After a few years we went from living in a van to living in a RV. I became the "magnet lady" known to people in business's on the west coast, and spent many years of traveling a route from Oregon to Southern California. The magnets & vintage stickers that I'm posting on Etsy are from that time. For a long time I held onto boxes of stock "just in case" I ever was homeless again and needed a way to survive. Happily, I seem to have overcome that fear and am ready to let go and sell my old stock of magnets, bookmarks & stickers. Who knew that through the years that I held onto them, they have become somewhat collectible. I guess because these images are no longer available. It would be so cool if someone remembers me or the product from my days on the road.
Also, from the past is the restored railroad photography. After over 10 years without contact with my family, eventually I resurfaced & in time became my great-aunt Evelyn's caregiver (Philip C. Johnson's wife) & in this relationship we found we shared a love of trains & history. After she passed I inherited the Philip C. Johnson family collection of his negatives & original prints. They remained untouched for several years while I was busy being a Mom.
PRESENT---This year, 2015, I am continuing to build and shape my Etsy store, Introducing the magnets & sticker collection from the 80's, restored railroad photos & more ham radio shirts,(I developed a line of shirts for hams called Hip Ham Shirts) more vintage books & other items.
FUTURE----Having spent my teen & young adult years taking care of my dad, and the next 20 years raising 3 awesome wonderful kids, I'm now free to pursue the future, & make some dreams come true. A thriving Etsy store is one of those dreams. While I opened the store in late 2011, I still didn't have the time or energy yet needed to build the store. I'm grateful for the skills, time & energy of Greg & Kenny, my sons who assist with both printing projects & my occasional lack of computer skills, Leo, my ex, who so beautifully has restored the railroad photography. He spends hours & even days working on every negative & the results are nothing short of spectacular.
Most of all, I'm grateful for Mark, my significant other & best friend, who has helped me, backed me, and believed in me. He has been there for me through thick & thin, illness & health.

Even though I'm the driving force behind A Better Tomorrow Sales, our shop wouldn't be possible without the mad skills of Greg, my son, screen printer & artist and Leo, my ex, whose expertise with restoring old negatives is invaluable.

Shipping
If I see that you may have "overpaid" on shipping , I will convo you and offer a refund or a possible "bonus" item from my shop. Even if I don't hear back from you, I will refund shipping overages.
It is hard to calculate the shipping" with a second item" part as I don't know what that item might be or it's weight so sometimes the shipping is higher than the actual. I watch for and refund shipping discrepancies.

We use USPS most often unless specifically requested to use another shipping option. Our shipping is calculated based on USPS so if another shipper is requested & the cost is considerably more, we will request additional funds to cover the difference.

International shipping available. Cost is listed with each item.

Please note that buyers are responsible for any and all
duties and customs charges that may be incurred
Refunds and Exchanges
If you are ever dis-satisfied with an item from our store, your purchase price is fully refundable upon return of item. Customer responsible for return shipping.
