Creative, a little unfocused

My first love is wearables, both clothing, jewelry and accessories. I am a maker through and through. I dabble in a variety of mediums, far too many to list. The point is ... OK, so I don't know what the point is, unless it's a lack of focus.

I make things I want or need and things I want to give the people in my life that I care about. But, let's face it, I only have so many relatives and friends and one country house can only hold so much. Hence, Etsy.

Oh! And I'm an avid knitter who occasionally teaches knitting and writes the odd pattern now and then. All my patterns have been submitted to a Tech Editor and Test Knitters. As a sometimes knitting teacher, I know that a mistake in a pattern is a problem for everyone, so I work hard to avoid them - you can find me on Ravelry at http://www.ravelry.com/people/ascatteredcreativ

All of my packaging is recycled or recyclable.
All of my Etsy sales donate 3% of the item's sale price (not just profit) to saving our oceans. 2021's donations went to Oceana (https://oceana.org).

Oh, and I'm also a little button mad. I love glass buttons (coming soon).

I try to use local materials made in the United States as much as possible with my glass items. For the fiber items that is a lot more challenging. A native of Seattle, I have lived in several states (from Alaska to Virginia, currently in Michigan) so, local to me is the whole country! I use glass made in Oregon (Bullseye and Uroboros), Virginia (Double Helix), and Michigan (Royal), as well as rod made in Italy because, who can resist those delicious colors! I use professional kilns with programmable firing modules to control the fusing and annealing process. Beads and glass items made in the torch are also annealed properly in these same kilns. The vital step of annealing ensures that even though these items are made of glass, they are reasonably durable and should last for years of use. That said, they are glass. A sudden shock or striking them sharply on a hard surface in just the right place will probably result in a break. Since I cannot duplicate most of my designs, treat them with care and respect as a replacement is often challenging. I happily guarantee against backs falling off buttons and anything arriving damaged. Just let me know if you have a problem with anything and I will get it taken care of.

Each button, even those that are repeatable (to some degree) or made in sets, are individually hand made. Without molds or big machines (aside from my trusty band saw and grinder), so there will be differences in shape, size, or even color (glass has dye lots - who knew?!). I work to keep sets as consistent as possible but hand made is what it is! No button goes out that I would not use myself, I care about quality in what I use and what I make. I want my buttons and their owners to be happy! :-) Every item is guaranteed.

Customers don't always know how to leave feedback so here are some quotes from e-mails received;

"My glass buttons arrived today and they are beautiful! The perfect spark of color and shine for my sweater - I can't wait to sew them on and wear it about. Thanks for your fast shipping. - AS"

"I received my fused glass buttons today and the way they complement my handwoven fabric is stunning! I can't wait to finish my jacket and get them sewn on! - CP"

I'll post more items as I get them photographed - photography is kind of my Achilles heel :-0
