aaharrison ceramics creates functional and sculptural work with a focus on handmade and technical craftsmanhip

I began aaharrison ceramics in 2009 after working with a high end production slip casting company in upsate New York. I was blessed to work closely with my boss, the owner, and learned so much about running a studio with one eye on production and the other on fine design. When my wife and I finally found a house we liked I began to convert the basement into my studio space. In 2009, after our second child was born and the economy was doing little to support me at my current job, I left the slip casting business to be a stay-at-home-work-from-home dad. I combined the technical knowledge earned from my Master of Fine Arts degree in clay and the practical studio knowledge gleaned from working with my former boss to create aaharrison ceramics: a studio focusing on unique functional and sculptural items with attention to detail and technical execution. I am continually pursuing new ideas and new techniques and have recently been captivated by birds. It is exciting to be able to create my own work and to be affected by my work!
