Don’t we all long for the lifestyle that old wealth offers?

...I did, so I created a world filled with adventure and wealth, something from the glamorous times of the past, and tied it all together with merchandise! I gave “birth” to Astoria Higgins…. an East Coast button heiress who socializes, travels and occasionally moves “off the grid”. She might wear something off beat, “hang” with odd characters, and travel to little known parts of the world. She lives “oh so” fashionably, often raucously, always lavishly, sometimes responsibly and ultimately scandalously.

I chose jackets as my initial venture into Astoria’s world because they have a forgiving fit, and they are timeless. Marie Antoinette wore lovely velvet jackets with ruffles and frog closures, and “new women” of the 1800’s wore jackets while planting early seeds for women’s rights. And who can forget Jackie Kennedy’s fabulous boxy jackets and Madeleine Albright’s ever-present brooch on the lapel? How about Janis Joplin in her hippie jackets?

So, I spend my time happily “holed up” in my “busy room” surrounded by antique type drawers filled with vintage buttons and jewelry, "patina'd" hardware, racks of repurposed jackets and gently loved scarves and furs…..and a desire to introduce everyone to some fun and adventure……

But this is more than just a fashion line….it’s a world, an assemblage of blogs and merchandise, an immersion into another time. The blog follows Astoria and her husband, Archer, through speakeasys, safaris, nightclubs, wars, and great loves....and the stories of all the characters they met along the way live on through the names and stories of the coats!

Take an extraordinary trip down memory lane...to a time of nostalgic revelry, decadence, frivolity and fashion...you'll find them all in Astoria's "Journal Jackets"

I collect things...things I call “found finery”.....magical trinkets, buttons oozing with history, fabulous furs with stories to tell, colorful scarves emblazoned with art….I put them all together and search for magic!

Thank you for considering Astoria's jackets. Each is unique and has been lovingly fabricated from vintage and found finery….which can be fragile and perfectly imperfect. That is often the source of their beauty, so marvel at their resiliance, appreciate the quality of days gone by, but please don't expect perfect, new items.

Enjoy!

Returns and exchange details
As a rule, I do not accept returns, and I've never had anyone wish to return a purchase. These items are one of a kind and fragile and not best served by packing and unpacking, shipping and reshipping. I believe you would not like purchasing a jacket that had been shipped around and returned. Ask all the questions you have up front. I love these jackets and never tire of talking about them. Please evaluate your purchase carefully. I have efforted to be very detailed in the descriptions, photos and measurements. Shoulder width is measured from shoulder seam to shoulder seam on the back; jacket length is measured from shoulder seam near collar to bottom of jacket in front; width at bottom is measured from side to side at bottom in front; sleeve length is measured from shoulder seam to bottom of sleeve. All measurements are approximate. Once the item is shipped, I cannot be responsible if something is damaged in shipping. If you would like shipping insurnce I can adjust the shipping fee to accomodate this prior to purchase. Thank You.
Payment
At this time I accept PayPal and credit cards through direct checkout only. If you have a specific request, convo me and we can try to work it out. I do not hold items, because right now I have a small shop and need to sell! I cannot accept cancellations, so ask enough questions to feel comfortable before you buy. I do charge Florida sales tax.
Shipping
I only ship right now to the continental US 48. If you would like it shipped any place else, please convo me and we can discuss it. At this time I plan to ship jackets by the most cost effective method for the destination. I will make the shipment trackable, but once it has been shipped, I am no longer responsible. Because of the shape and bulkiness, I will do my best to pack the coats carefully, but you will most likely need to steam them upon receipt.
Additional policies and FAQs
Each Jacket is one of a kind and embellished with special found and vintage items. Many of the embellishments are removable for cleaning; however, please consult your neighborhood dry cleaner for handling recommendations. Because many of the items are vintage, most have been previously worn, and can sometimes show minimal wear.
When indicated, the items have been drycleaned and/or repaired. I cannot vouch for the original owners and their environments, as I don't often meet them. However, I won't sell anything I wouldn't wear myself. I am picky, but I also appreciate the "patina" of vintage and found objects.
