I've always been an artist but somewhere along the way I let perfectionism get the best of me and I stopped creating art for a long time. I never thought I was good enough. One day I just couldn't take it anymore and I decided that no matter how bad I thought my art was I was going to create. When I was done I stepped back and took a look. It was perfectly imperfect and I really loved it! For the first time in my life I didn't need the approval from others to make me believe that my art was good. The funny thing was though, people really liked my work too! A lot of people agree the most interesting art isn't the perfect pieces, it's the ones where you can see where the artist made decisions and then different decisions. Seeing the lines and the marks, the trials and "errors" is fascinating. Before the world told us how to draw, paint and create we all knew within ourselves how things should look. Growing up is the biggest killer of our inner artist. It takes courage to make marks without fear of scrutiny. I work through this process and everyday I get a little closer to the artist I know I am deep down before I was taught what was beautiful and accepted. I want to show everyone that what most see as imperfections are actually what makes the art so beautiful and interesting. It tells the real story of my art.
