About

Story of a creative neat freak

I have always made things and have always been a neat freak. I think it's in my blood since in my family there are many makers, designers and organisers. When I was little and all the other kids were getting messy I preferred making intricate patterns with my multicoloured biro. I love anything to do with pattern, I also love colour - especially when organised into pleasing compositions.

I have a First Class Degree in Three Dimensional Design from University of the Arts London. This allowed me to do some hands on experimentation in a wide range of materials and techniques and to develop my style of working. When I graduated I went straight to Delhi, India on a three month placement with a furniture company working with local craftsmen. I was able to stay on afterwards to travel around India exploring and finding lots of inspiration. I now have my own studio in London on the side of the Thames where I can see the ships coming in and out from the Channel.

I take inspiration from traditional pattern design and craft techniques. I enjoy learning new techniques so I end up making a wide variety of different things in different materials.

I also get inspired by found materials, especially when I find something beautiful that is usually thrown away (like the fish scales and feathers used in my jewellery and head dresses) it is nice to save things and give them a new life by making them into something else.

Everything I make is something I want to own and is made with care and attention to detail and quality.

I am a designer maker in London, UK. I have been slowly building my business since 2010. I love made to last, beautiful objects with history. I also love using natural, good quality materials such as wood, metal and wool. The traditional craft techniques connect me to the past while the inspiration from modern shapes keep me moving forward. I often include found or vintage items within, or as inspiration for, my pieces.
