Welcome to A Birch for Monday!

I use rough-cut stones from around the world, along with high-quality 14k gold-filled and sterling chain, to create pieces that are both polished and raw, organic and architectural. All of my pieces are handmade in my little home studio in Madison, WI. I'm honored to have had my jewelry featured on Jezebel.com, in Madison Magazine, MODA and BRAVA Magazine, and on blogs The Working Wardrobe, Style Symmetry, and more!

Have a look around, and don't hesitate to email with questions or requests for custom orders. If you live in Madison, my jewelry is also available at (shoo) on State Street!

Hi there, and welcome! I started ABFM while pursuing my MFA in Creative Writing in 2011. Today, I live with my fiance, work for a non-profit and am writing my second novel; my first, "The Anatomy of Dreams," is available from Simon & Schuster.

Welcome to A Birch for Monday! Each piece in my shop is handcrafted and one of a kind. I use raw and polished stones, rocks and minerals from around the world to create pieces that feel both natural and architectural. The quality of my work is very important to me; I use high-quality 14k gold-filled and sterling silver chain and wire so that each piece is safe for sensitive skin and built to last. If a piece is plated or contains a different metal, I'm careful to list what it contains and make sure to avoid nickel and lead. I source my materials from various bead and rock shops in Madison, WI, along with the wonderful and very wide web that is Etsy; the stones in my current collection come from Brazil, Botswana and Mexico, among other places.

Because I'm also a fiction writer, I'm interested in the narrative of each piece. I give them names and like to imagine them as characters, with lives that will continue on after I make them! Though the pieces in my shop are generally one of a kind, don't hesitate to ask if you'd like multiples, as I can often find the materials for more. I also love doing custom orders; you can request a custom order by clicking "Request custom item" link on the left sidebar (under "Shop Info") - or just send me a convo!

Each item in my shop will come gift-wrapped using eco-friendly materials! Right now, I'm using organic kraft boxes with handmade, pressed-flower paper and hemp cord.

Questions? Comments? Just convo me on Etsy - I respond promptly to inquiries, orders and custom requests, and I love working with customers! As a small business owner and a frequent Etsy customer myself, I understand how gratifying it is to have a positive buying experience, and I hope to offer that to my customers.

If you are happy with your order, please consider leaving positive feedback! I'm still new to Etsy, and I very much appreciate it.
