A milliner from a fashion and hair background in love with Coco...as in Chanel.

I originally started my Etsy shop " A Bird In The Hair " a few years back making headbands, combs and barrettes. I didn't really know what it meant to be an Etsy shop owner and so I drifted apart from Etsy. In the years I was not active on Etsy, I sold a lot of my pieces at Artisan fairs, made custom pieces and participated in shows. Then I went traveling (again) and fell in love with hats. Some countries really love their hats! I decided I would try some millinery courses (hat making) in England. I fell in love (with hat making, and then later my amazing husband) and decided to make and sell them. I have always loved fashion and have been strongly influenced by my world travels so it was simply a matter of time before I needed to design some wearable fashions. I returned from my studying abroad in England and began to slowly work on a hat collection. I was approached to make some bridal sashes and now I am hooked! They add so much personalization to a dress and can be so beautiful and intricate. I have so much fun creating these beautiful and inspired pieces from beautiful vintage pieces mixed in with high quality fabrics. I have had my A Bird In The Hair line featured in WedLuxe Magazine and The Georgia Straight (as welI as some very cool blogs). I feel blessed and appreciative of the opportunity to reach the world via Etsy and hopefully to contribute a lovely creation of mine in to your life or big event. I plan to expand my line and add more pieces as I create them, all by hand, never by machine. Thank you for reading "my story".

Hi, I am the owner/designer of A Bird In The Hair. I am a schooled Milliner and absolute lover of fashion. I enjoy color, texture, and have had an affinity for the 1920's and Paris since I was a child. I am inspired by Coco Chanel and Audrey Hepburn.

One of my favorite designers of all time....

"Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening."
-Coco Chanel

A Bird In The Hair was founded by me, Lindsey Bayne, as a small way to show off how I see the world in terms of fashion and art. It is a collection and reflection of my favorite eras blended with how I see the world today. I think wearing pieces of clothing, jewelery, and accessories that mean something to you shows that you mean something, and you know what that something is. By that I mean, we can all make a CHOICE in what we do, say and wear, and fashion and art show us that. Be bold. Be beautiful. Be brilliant. Because that is how I see each and every one of us and the world around me.

And it all started with A Bird In MY Hair...and so here we are.

I have been commissioned to do whole bridal parties, brides, stagettes, special events, dance shows and anything that requires a little sparkle and daring to be worn in the hair. I have incorporated old vintage pieces and made them into something new and still ever-so-special. I am honored to be a part of anything that brings joy into this world in any form and I have donated some pieces to auctions for a variety of arts related fund raising. I invite everyone who looks through my pieces to imagine what the piece makes them think about, and what it would feel like to have that piece in their hair, and know it's secret story. I value each of my designs and all of them are unique and as hard as I try I could never make an exact replica, BUT I can make similar forgeries if materials are still available. Thank you for reading about A Bird In The Hair.
Please contact me with any questions. I will do my best to accommodate special requests and particularly for brides ( I have been there ) committing to a piece on line is brave and I ask you to PLEASE CONTACT ME with questions. Cheers.
