Announcement   I love making hand bound journals, notebooks and other book related items. I make every part of the book from start to finish, so you can get your journal customized with leather color, headband color and ribbon color. I can even customize the paper used for the pages since I hand sew them to make the journal.

There are hand bound soft cover and hard cover blank journals here. Some are even leather bound.

About

I love paper... Plain and simple, I. Love. Paper.

Binding books in a time-honored tradition is fueled by my love of paper.

The way it feels in my hands, the way is sounds when you crinkle it, the way it folds, the way it smells. Did you know that different papers have different smells? I love paper.

My book-binding journey began in a humble print shop of all places. The more I worked with paper, the more I realized it has a personality. Yup, you heard me right, it has a personality. The direction of the grain effects the way it folds, effects the way a book lays. The texture of the surface effects the way it behaves when putting a writing instrument to it. The color, the feel, the weight, it all adds up to personality. The personality of a paper stock must be carefully considered when deciding what to do with it.

Printer paper? BOR-ING. No texture, no personality. Plain white, uniform, boring. Give me a paper with character and I can work miracles with it. Fold it, cut it, sew it, bind it, make an amazing journal for you to take home and enjoy.

And leather, that's amazing too. It has a grain as well which has an effect when working with it. The thickness, the texture, the treatment. Personality!! It makes every journal unique.

I get to work with paper and leather. Come look around my shop and share my passion with me. AbishBookWorks.etsy.com

    I'm a silversmith by trade. I love working with metal and so many of the skills I've learned as a metalsmith lend themselves to bookbinding. It's great getting to work with my daughter and watch her fulfill her dream

Shipping
Currently I ship journals to US addresses and some other countries. Contact me regarding international shipping. Determination at this time will be made on a country to country basis and a shipping quote can be provided.

{Shipping Methods}

I wish it were possible to teleport your items to you. Unfortunately, that technology hasn't been invented, yet. (Note to self--work on teleportation device.)

I ship via USPS First Class/Priority Mail, depending on size and weight of your journal. Priority Mail or Priority Mail Express upgrades are available for an additional charge. (cause you know, it's good to have options). Delivery confirmation is always included, insurance is not. You can get your stuff shipped UPS/Fed Ex if you want for an additional fee.

Shipping Speeds and Rates for US addresses:
**USPS First Class - 3 to 5 business days, $5.75. Delivery time not guaranteed by USPS and therefore I cannot guarantee this timeframe either. That said, mail shipped first class typically arrives in 3-5 business days to US addresses.

**USPS Priority Mail - 2 to 5 business days, $8.75. Again, delivery time not guaranteed by USPS and therefore I cannot guarantee this timeframe either. That said, mail shipped priority mail typically arrives in 2-5 business days. During the Christmas shipping season is where you will see the most difference in speed versus first class.

**USPS Priority Mail Express - 1 to 2 business days, $23.75. This is the only shipping speed guaranteed by the US Postal Service. Depending on where you live, your item will arrive next day or two day (no delivery on Sundays or Holidays). I will send you a convo with expected delivery after I have taken your item to the post office and recieved a delivery time from them for this shipping option.

To upgrade to Priority or Priority Express, purchase the shipping upgrade listing in addition to your journal purchase. The cost of the upgrade combined with the shipping already applied to the item/s purchased will be the total shipping cost. The prices shown above are shown for a single item. Combined shipping rates will still be available for items shipped together.

If you want your item shipped UPS/FedEx, contact me for a quote.

{Insurance}

It would be great if I could control the universe, really, it would. For starters, clouds would be made of cotton candy and every day would be Saturday!!!!! Unfortunately, my phenomenal cosmic power is out of warranty, so I have no control over what happens to your package after it leaves my hands. You however can prepare for that rainy day if you want to...

Insurance on your notebook is your responsibility and is optional. I really and truly cannot control the Universe, really, and thereby am not responsible for damages incurred during shipping or for lost or stolen packages. Insurance will be charged at the current USPS insurance rate.

{Handling Times}

I am as excited as you are to get your really awesome book into your hands. I mean come on, it's really cool and you want it now. I will do my best to make it happen for you.

I send ready to ship notebooks within 3 business days of receipt of payment, so the sooner you send green, the sooner I ship your new stuff. I'll even send you an email or convo when I have shipped your stuff. If the Universe conspires against me and there will be a delay, I will contact you.

Made to order items will take longer, depending on fabrications times. I will convo you through the process with an expected ship date.

_______________________________________
{Cancellations}

I do not accept cancellations. Once your journal order has shipped, it cannot be cancelled even by me. (I mean really, have you ever tried to climb through those little mail slots? It is not a pretty sight and should not be done.)

_______________________________________
{Shipping Address}

Hey, I like you, and like to try to help out the people I like. For your protection I ship to the address listed on your Etsy account.

I know you want to make sure you get your notebook, so to avoid loss due to misdelivery, please be certain the address on your Etsy account is correct before you order. Correct addressing is the responsibility of the customer and as such, so is a mis-delivered item due to an incorrectly addressed package.

If your package gets returned to me as unclaimed I'll contact you for further information. I will gladly reship your book order for an additional shipping fee. Unfortunately, I am unable to refund for unclaimed purchases.

{International Shipping}

International shipping varies based on local customs regulations. Please contact me if you don't see your country listed.

The international shipping fees I charge cover the cost of shipping, insurance and packing supplies. It does NOT cover any customs or VAT fees. These are the responsibility of the buyer.

Due to postage requirements of various countries, quite often the shipping fees don't even cover the cost of shipping and I pay for the additional shipping cost, insurance and packing supplies for you.

It is the responsibility of the purchaser to be familiar with their country's import regulations and adherence to said regulations. If your country does not allow importation of certain materials, I am not responsible for this. If journal is confiscated by purchaser's governmental agencies/regulations including but not limited to customs, this is the responsibility of the purchaser and will not constitute a reason for cancellation, replacement or refund. As stated before, it is the responsibility of the purchaser to be knowledgeable of their country's regulations and compliance with those regulations.

Shipping Speeds and Rates for International Packages:
**USPS First Class International - 3 to 5 weeks, $11 to $12 depending on item purchased and destination country. Delivery time not guaranteed by USPS and therefore I cannot guarantee this timeframe either.

**USPS Priority Mail International - 6 to 10 business days, $32 to $33. Again, delivery time not guaranteed by USPS and therefore I cannot guarantee this timeframe either.

**USPS Priority Mail Express International - 3 to 5 business days, $46 to $47. And yet again, delivery time not guaranteed by USPS and therefore I cannot guarantee this timeframe either.

{Doing Our Part}

I love this planet...I really do. I try to do my part to keep it pretty. As part of that effort to encourage sustainability, I recycle packing and shipping materials when shipping your journal whenever possible.
Refunds and Exchanges
I do accept returns for exchange within 14 days of the date of delivery shown on the delivery confirmation. Journal must be returned in the original condition in which it was sent in order to receive credit. This includes and un-broken, intact spine.

Refunds are given in the form of credit that can be used in my shop for the amount of the purchase price less any shipping and transaction fees.

I ship all books in the condition I consider acceptable for my own use. I also do my best to point out any of the interesting eccentricities that come along with handcrafted and one of a kind items through photos and descriptions.

Should you feel differently, please convo or email me and we'll work together toward a resolution. http://www.etsy.com/convo_new.php?to_username=AbishBookWorks

I do want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase, so before leaving feedback, please contact me and I will do my very best to make sure you are satisfied. http://www.etsy.com/convo_new.php?to_username=AbishBookWorks
Additional policies and FAQs
{Durability/Guarantee}

I take care to be certain my journals are of high quality and acceptable for everyday use.

I guarantee workmanship for a period of 3 months from date of delivery noted on delivery confirmation. Rough treatment or exposure to chemicals is not covered under my workmanship guarantee.

If there is an issue with your journal, contact me and we will work out specifics. Generally speaking, convo me, ship it to me and if I determine the issue is workmanship, I will credit $5 for shipping. If the issue is due to rough handling of the notebook, I will convo you to work out details, but no shipping credit will be issued. You are welcome to use the shipping method you prefer, however, I do recommend purchasing delivery confimation and insuance for your protection as I cannot be responsible for book until I receive it.
