Abi Stevens: illustrator of colourful and empowering designs for chronic warriors!

Hi everyone! My name is Abi. I'm an illustrator/maker based in Cambridge UK. I make striking and colourful prints, pins, stickers, jewellery and more, with an emphasis on symbolism, vibrant colours and bold designs. My work has an element of the fantastical about it - a nod to my love of mythology, folklore and fantasy - but my main focus is on creating empowering and positive designs to brighten peoples days.

Over the years since developing Chronic Migraine and having to leave my previous job as a TA working with disabled children my illustrations and products have become more personal, outspoken, and political. Becoming disabled has made me more empathetic and receptive. My art has evolved into a direct expression of my experiences and beliefs and I feel a new sense of purpose and responsibility to use my work to create connections between people, to inspire, educate and empower others, especially those who have chronic illnesses or disabilities like me.

People who have bought my chronic designs say that they have helped them to feel strong and seen, and one customer uses her 'migraine warrior' pin to help medical professionals understand her condition when she is experiencing stroke-like symptoms.

I hope that all my work going forward can serve a similar function in prompting conversations about unhealthy work culture, chronic health, self-care and mental health, inspiring us all to prioritise our own and others well-being over capitalist measures of our worth.

Frequently asked questions
Wholesale availability

Most of my products are available for wholesale orders. Email abistevens@btinternet.com if you are interested in placing an order.

Custom and personalised orders

I am available for custom illustration commissions, including chronic warrior designs and personalised coat of arms. Email abistevens@btinternet.com for a quote.

Why does clothing arrive separately?

My clothing is print-on-demand so the orders are fulfilled and shipped by my supplier. This means they will arrive separately from other items you order and unfortunately can't be gift wrapped.
But printing on demand means I can offer more designs, more colours, and more inclusive size ranges, as well as cutting down on waste by only printing what is ordered!

Gift wrapping and packaging

Marking an order as a gift means I will include any gift note you provide but the order will have my standard stripy paper bag + sticker packaging. If you want your gift in wrapping paper you need to add-on gift wrapping service at check-out. Then your order will be wrapped in my colourful rainbow starburst patterned wrapping paper, with a matching gift tag and ribbon.
Clothing items unfortunately can't be gift wrapped because they ship separately, directly from my supplier.

Sizing details

Sizing charts are included in the image carousels of each of my clothing listings. The sizes available are limited by the sizes offered by my print-on-demand supplier and so vary depending on the item.

Care instructions

All my clothing is safe in a washing machine, but I advise against tumble drying them.
For the longest possible lifespan for the direct-to-garment t-shirt printing you could opt to hand-wash them.
