About

Walking Art Gallery - The Wearable Art Movement

Welcome and Thank You for visiting my Shop!

My name is Alicia, I am the artist behind Simply Divine Details here in Central New York. I am for the most part a "one-woman-show," but I do get alot of help and motivation from my Husband Ryan, who is studying Chiropractics. While my hubby is busy being a full time student, I am working hard to make my entrepreneur dreams come to life through my artwork.

I have been obsessed with art for as long as I can remember. I have boxes of old sketch books from when I was a child, all stored away at my parents' house. Among those old sketch books I also have some that belonged to both my dad and mom, some from my great Aunt and my Grandmother. I loved looking through those sketches and getting ideas from them. I admired the talents of the ones I loved. Much like the artists back in Da Vinci's day, I was studying and copying the artwork that my relatives created, longing to some day be as great an artist as they were.

I always knew I would have a career where I created art, in some way or another, and never considered any other occupation. I just could not be happy doing anything but art! I was mainly a graphite portrait artist, until I went to college and got into acrylics and watercolors. I found a new love for both, but have done quite a bit more with the watercolors.

After graduating, I didn't know exactly what I wanted to do, well, ideally I wanted to just stay home and paint all the time, but that wasn't going to pay the bills. So I worked a lot of retail. Two years after graduating, I have finally decided what I want to do with my art, and it started with this idea -

I believe that original artwork should not be confined to the walls of a gallery or museum, but instead should be a part of everyday life! I want to create Wearable Watercolor Jewelry to allow art to become an integral part in expressing who we are as individuals.

So, I ran head first into this idea. I took the risk of leaving my part time job (which I was actually unofficially laid-off of anyway) and I began my venture out into the world of wearable art in the form of tiny little watercolor paintings that dangled from necklaces to accessorize an outfit!

How I decided I was going to be different from other artists making jewelry inspired by their paintings is simply this: each painting is the jewelry, no prints or reproductions made, the actual painting is placed into the pendant, covered in resin and attached to glass. In doing this, each jewelry piece is one of a kind, there will never be another one exactly like it.

I love being able to create pieces that have special meaning to a person, and give a little insight into their personality. I strive to make each piece unique, because I know someone equally as unique will be wearing it and be able to express themselves through a simple little accessory such as a pair of earrings.

And so, Simply Divine Details by Alicia McGloon was born - and I can not wait to see where this adventure will take me!

I am so glad you stopped by and were interested in my story! I do hope you enjoy shopping around Simply Divine Details!
