3 out of 5 starsThe packaging was wonderful and shipping was very quick. I appreciate the hand written note which made it very personable. Also appreciated the tea candle that was added in extra. The candle did seem smaller than I had expected, but I find it to be very unique. Pretty pricey so I think I will use it just for decor.

5 out of 5 starsLove the candle's strong scent and unique shell; warning that these are obviously real coconut so the shells aren't always flat--meaning your wax will tilt and pool on one side of the candle!

Does A Coconut Shop use real coconut shells?
Yup, we only use 100% natural coconut shells for our candles.
Nice! Can you tell me about the wax you use?
Thanks for asking! We use a soy wax blend for our candles called Joy Wax. This wax gives your candles a great hot and cold throw; which basically means that your space will be smelling incredible whether or not your candles are lit.
Great. Going back to the coconut shells, since this is a natural wood, should I moisturize it every so often?
That's a great thought, yes. Every 3 to 6 months take a small amount of coconut oil (or any vegetable oil of your choice), melt it in your fingertips, and massage it on the outside of your candle. Place your candle on a paper towel and let the oil absorb for one hour. This will moisturize the coconut shell and give it a beautiful healthy look!
Thanks for the tip! I was burning my candle the other day and one of the wicks sunk below the wax. How do I fix that?
That's a good question. Each coconut shell has natural curves and contours, which means that candles may have a slight tilt. This can sometimes cause one of the wicks to eventually dip below the wax. To easily fix this, turn on a lighter and hold the flame above the sunken wick for 10 seconds. Then, using a q-tip sop up the melted wax surrounding the wick. That's it! Your candle is ready to be burned again.
Great to know. Is there anything I can do to help my candles burn more evenly?
Absolutely. Trim your weeks to 1/4 inch before each use. Once you light your candle, let it burn for a minimum of one hour. This helps the wax burn evenly and consistently. However, make sure you don't burn it for more than 3 hours at a time since this can cause the coconut shell to overheat and crack.
