About

One-of-a-kind upcycled button jewelry!

Hello, hello!!

I always loved handmade jewelry! I decided to take a jewelry making class when I was pregnant with my first child and was hooked! But I wanted to add a environmental consciousness to my jewelry and my mother suggested that I look through my grandmother things (she use to be a clothes designer) and discovered her buttons! Wow! All those colors and sizes, discarded because they were singles or discolored. I decided that I had to find a way to make jewelry with those discarded buttons and give them a second life. By trial and error, I created jewelry with the upcycled buttons covered with different eco-responsible papers, using either the buttons on their own or locally-crafted one-of-a-kind pewter pieces to showcase the buttons. Since 2006, I have been doing jewelry full-time as a one-woman handmade shop, selling locally in various boutiques.

I have been shopping on Etsy since 2006, enjoying the artisans marketplace. I finally decided in 2015 that it was time for me to start selling on Etsy to reach a wider public!

There is a quote in a song I like that says: ‘ I’ll see you with your laughter lines” (Bastille). I love that quote and for me it reflects the intention that I want to give my jewelry; see the person wearing it with her laughter lines - hoping that my jewelry will be worn for many years, passing through the happy moments with her ... To see her with her laughter lines!

ADA-JITO uses custom-made pewter pieces in her jewelry. These pieces are locally made by a couple who owns the company. Pewter is a metal that is recyclable which means that there is no waste; a good eco-friendly choice!

  • Paper patterns and paper supplies

    Etsy Sellers, Local Companies

Paper patterns: I mostly buy the patterns on ETSY which I then print on 100% post-consumer recycled paper. I also buy different eco-friendly papers locally and sometimes abroad. All my paper supplies are eco-friendly and reusable or recyclable!

Welcome to ADA-JITO!

I recycle unused buttons, cover them with different patterned papers (either printed on 100% post-consumer paper or eco-responsable papers bought locally) and apply a water-based acrylic for a nice glossy finish! Some models feature custom-made pewter pieces that frames the recovered button.

I am a one-woman handmade shop. I thrive to produce eco-conscious products and to have sustainable practices.

Thank you for your interest in my jewelry, I hope you find a piece that speaks to you!!

Additional policies and FAQs
I guarantee all of my work, however it is best to follow these CARE INSTRUCTION in order to maintain the original finish and appearance:
*it is highly recommended that you do not shower or swim with the jewelry because it could alter the finish of the piece.
* My hooks and earring posts are made of surgical steel which is hypoallergenic. However, if you wish to clean them with alcohol nonetheless, please be careful to only clean the hook because alcohol touching the button can deteriorate it....

Different computer monitors can make the jewelry look lighter/darker than natural light. Please keep this in mind when ordering. ...but I try to take pictures as close to the reality as possible.

All that being said, my jewelry is 100% garanteed so if something occurs, contact me through Etsy or info [!at] adajito.com and we will work something out :-)! Thank you!
