Make every day an adventure with a beautiful handmade accessory!

As a complete creative soul and throughout my school years, instead of following my heart I took the “sensible” path of a secure job that would pay the bills. After years of academic study, I wound up as a Law Librarian in the financial hub of London. While researching cases on corporate arbitration and contract law, I found myself desperate to do the opposite. My creative soul was itching to get out; I’d ignored it for far too long.

As if by magic my flat mate came home one day with a sewing machine and she promptly showed me how to use it. It got a bit embarrassing when I was begging to use it at every available opportunity and so, the time had come to buy my own.

I remember the day my machine arrived. I’d ordered it to be delivered at work. My law colleagues seemed a little perplex at the 5’1” librarian bouncing out of work that day with a ridiculous grin on. I hugged the machine all the way home on the tube and that evening I made myself a skirt.

The skirt (which I still own!) led to more skirts, dresses, cushion covers, accessories, purses, and bags until people started requesting customised items and offering to pay for them. I honestly couldn’t believe people wanted to give me their hard earned cash for something I’d designed and made with my own hands. And so I started researching (librarian skills at the ready!) how I could sell my creations and I came across Etsy, the perfect marketplace for handmade designs. I nervously registered and opened my shop. Within a few hours, my first order had come in all the way from America. I was gobsmacked! My creative adventure had begun.

Continuing to work as a full-time librarian, moving house and cities numerous times, changing jobs, and dealing with some horrendous personal turmoil, I managed to keep my creative adventure going. It was the only thing I was certain of and now, five years later, after lots of hard work, late nights and working through endless weekends, Adventures & Tea Parties is now my full time job and business. I can now throw all my creative energy, ideas and passions into my designs for you to enjoy!

In my shop you can find pet accessories, bow ties, jewellery and a large range of popular, personalised handkerchiefs. I work with beautiful fabrics that I source in the UK and everything is made by me, entirely from scratch. The popular handkerchiefs are all made from 100% cotton. I make the handkerchiefs themselves (no ordering a job lot from a factory!) and embroider your personalisation requests by hand. So, you can be guaranteed that what you are buying is 100% handmade in the UK and made with care, love and attention to detail. As someone who doesn’t follow that throw-away culture and who loves good quality, I want you to have the best too and something that you can treasure, hold on to and keep forever.

I hope you like what you see. Please do get in touch with me if you have any questions whatsoever or would like something custom made; I’m here and happy to help.

Additional policies and FAQs
All fabrics have been pre-shrunk and pre-washed at 40°C. Please take care when washing any items and note that, as with all machine washable products, they do shrink and fade slightly over time. Please also note the washing and care instructions given on each individual product listing.

All items come wrapped in branded Adventures & Tea Parties boxes ready for you to add your own gift wrapped touch. Please let me know at the check-out stage if you would like your order to be sent to a different person and address.

I welcome personal and wholesale requests. Any custom made orders will be charged at a slightly higher price due to the additional time spent making the design extra special.

To fulfil your order, you must provide me with certain information (which you authorised Etsy to provide to me), such as your name, email address, postal address, payment information, and the details of the product that you’re ordering. You may also choose to provide me with additional personal information (for a custom order of a handkerchief, for example), if you contact me directly.

Why I Need Your Information and How I Use It

I rely on a number of legal bases to collect, use, and share your information, including:

- as needed to provide my services, such as when I use your information to fulfil your order, to settle disputes, or to provide customer support;

- when you have provided your affirmative consent, which you may revoke at any time, such as by signing up for my mailing list;

- if necessary to comply with a legal obligation or court order or in connection with a legal claim, such as retaining information about your purchases if required by tax law; and

- as necessary for the purpose of my legitimate interests, if those legitimate interests are not overridden by your rights or interests, such as 1) providing and improving my services. I use your information to provide the services you requested and in my legitimate interest to improve my services; and 2) Compliance with the Etsy Seller Policy and Terms of Use. I use your information as necessary to comply with my obligations under the Etsy Seller Policy and Terms of Use.

Information Sharing and Disclosure

Information about my customers is important to my business. I share your personal information for very limited reasons and in limited circumstances, as follows:

- Etsy. I share information with Etsy as necessary to provide you my services and comply with my obligations under both the Etsy Seller Policy and Etsy Terms of Use.

- Service providers. I engage certain trusted third parties to perform functions and provide services to my shop, such as delivery companies. I will share your personal information with these third parties, but only to the extent necessary to perform these services.

- Business transfers. If I sell or merge my business, I may disclose your information as part of that transaction, only to the extent permitted by law.

- Compliance with laws. I may collect, use, retain, and share your information if I have a good faith belief that it is reasonably necessary to: (a) respond to legal process or to government requests; (b) enforce my agreements, terms and policies; (c) prevent, investigate, and address fraud and other illegal activity, security, or technical issues; or (d) protect the rights, property, and safety of my customers, or others.

Data Retention

I retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to provide you with my services and as described in my Privacy Policy. However, I may also be required to retain this information to comply with my legal and regulatory obligations, to resolve disputes, and to enforce my agreements. I generally keep your data for the following time period: 1 year

Transfers of Personal Information Outside the EU

I may store and process your information through third-party hosting services in the UK and other jurisdictions. As a result, I may transfer your personal information to a jurisdiction with different data protection and government surveillance laws than your jurisdiction.

Your Rights

If you reside in certain territories, including the EU, you have a number of rights in relation to your personal information. While some of these rights apply generally, certain rights apply only in certain limited cases. I describe these rights below:

- Access. You may have the right to access and receive a copy of the personal information I hold about you by contacting me using the contact information below.

- Change, restrict, delete. You may also have rights to change, restrict my use of, or delete your personal information. Absent exceptional circumstances (like where I am required to store data for legal reasons) I will generally delete your personal information upon request.

- Object. You can object to (i) my processing of some of your information based on my legitimate interests and (ii) receiving marketing messages from me after providing your express consent to receive them. In such cases, I will delete your personal information unless I have compelling and legitimate grounds to continue using that information or if it is needed for legal reasons.

- Complain. If you reside in the EU and wish to raise a concern about my use of your information (and without prejudice to any other rights you may have), you have the right to do so with your local data protection authority.
