About

A love for creating, Maine and the sea

I've lived and collected sea glass off the East Coast of Maine my whole life. Each piece I have found is a tiny treasure to me! Over the years, my collection and love of beach finds has grown enormous! Beach combing has been a way for me to relax and be at peace, a favorite past time for Sundays in the summer, and a fun activity to do with family and friends. Combined with my passion for creating and exploring art of all mediums, I recently started creating handmade and Maine-inspired jewelry. Self taught, I used online resources and some hands-on time to begin making one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces. What I offer is handmade art jewelry, inspired by coastal living and utilizing salvaged and natural materials. With my sea glass and stones being found on the shore, much of my metal materials are salvaged from things like old copper electrical wire and copper roofing. I just can't think of a better way to display my ideas and tiny treasures than in a wearable piece of art! I even find it hard to part with every piece, because each is so unique! I want to share this jewelry with you and others, and help evoke the same feelings I experience from standing at the shore, looking out over the endless waves, the breath taking sites and the salty ocean breeze on our amazing Maine coast!

I am a full-time graphic artist by day. I have worked for a local publication for almost 10 years, right out of college. In my spare time, I like to release my creative energies in a more hands-on way. I love to get my hands dirty, figuratively and literally! Fashion and jewelry have always been a passion of mine, so when I found I had some free time, I decided to try my hand at jewelry making. After many hours (many late nights and early moring hours!) of youtube videos, pinteresting and scouring the internet for tutorials and sources, I gave it a try. I can now say I am a self taught jewelry artist and I'm constantly learning and trying new things. The possibilities seem endless and my interest and passion continues to grow.

I make my jewelry by hand out of pure silver, .925 sterling silver and copper materials. Some of my metals are purchased while others are salvaged! The sea glass used in my pieces are either collected by myself or generously donated by friends and family who have collected it from the beaches of Maine. All of my sea glass pieces are 100% authentic and naturally tumbled, shaped and frosted by the ocean surf.

When cleaning my jewelry, I use an all natural solution that I make of vinegar and sea salt, vs. the typical chemical jewelry cleaners.

Caring for: Copper Jewelry
Over time, copper will develop a natural patina. If you notice your copper jewelry is dirty or dulling, clean it. To do so, use warm water and Dawn soap, or lemon juice and a pinch of salt. Swish the jewelry around in the mixture, rub clean and dry thoroughly. Do not let the jewelry sit for long, this may cause damage. Jewelry polish or polishing clothes can also be used for a high shine (do not use silver polish, this will damage the copper)!

Some of my copper pieces are coated with a spray enamel to prevent oxidation and discoloration. If a piece has been coated, it will be stated in the listing description.

Caring for: Silver and .925 Sterling Silver Jewelry
Similar to copper, silver jewelry will naturally tarnish over time when exposed to air and chemicals (such as hairspray, cleaning agents, perfumes) we use every day. If you notice your silver or sterling silver jewelry appears dirty or dulling, clean it. To do so, use warm water and Dawn soap. Swish the jewelry around in the mixture, rub clean and dry thoroughly. Do not let the jewelry sit for long, this may cause damage. Another option, make a paste of baking soda and water, apply a small amount to silver or sterling silver jewelry and polish. Clean with warm water and dry thoroughly. Jewelry polish or polishing clothes can also be used for a high shine!
