Afghan Tribal Arts: The beauty of Central Asia.

Abdul found that he could help people in his mother country and have a meaningful business in the United States by importing hand made beads and all the other beautiful crafts we carry in Afghan Tribal Arts.

The core of the business is in the beads. Abdul maintains a regular bead show route between Wisconsin and Florida, stopping along the way at galleries and bead shops that carry his wares. The beads are made by artisans in Peshawar, Pakistan, and in Afghanistan. This is an important source of income for these artists. The gemstones are mined locally and are all hand carved. We choose to promote an unpolished finish as it we love the sheen the beads take on over time.

We also carry vintage textiles, carpets, and other crafts. Afghan Tribal Arts has a retail gallery in Paducah, Kentucky: Beads and Rugs by ATA at 626 Broadway, in Paducah's downtown!

We focus on smaller items that are easier to ship in our Etsy shop. But, if you see something on our website that you like, do not hesitate to ask about it. We love what we do and strive for happy customers.

We are convo friendly and hope that our products will create bridges between cultures. We try to find out as much information as we can about our vintage items and strive to educate and connect as we sell.

Thank you for your interest and support!

We do announce new products on our Facebook page, so make sure to follow us there:

    Owner

Hi! I'm from Afghanistan and emigrated to the United States in the early 1980's. I fell in love with the crafts of my mother country and began Afghan Tribal Arts a few years after moving to the States. Enjoy what I have to offer!

Abdul and I have been friends for over 20 years. We had a huge gallery together in Chicago and continued to work together on other projects in Paducah, Kentucky. I became involved with helping other artists and small importers in a marketing.

Afghan Tribal Arts is owned by Abdul Wardak, native of Afghanistan, and importer of beads and crafts from Central Asia. Visit our website, www.afghantribalarts.com for sample images of our inventory. We will be happy to try to carry similar items to what you see there here on Etsy if they fit within Etsy's guidelines. Shipping is a concern on larger pieces, so we stick to smaller pieces when selling online.

Afghan Tribal Arts supports many artisans living in the Peshawar region through the sale of its crafts, especially with new beads and jewelry. We hope that the beauty of these handworks will inspire people to take a deep interest in Afghanistan and its culture.

Returns and exchange details
I accept returns on any purchase for any reason. I believe not seeing the item right in front of you is the downside of buying/selling online, so I am happy to take things back that do not fulfill your expectations. I have had very few returns over the years and I work hard on photos and descriptions in order to describe the item as best as possible.

Returns must be done within 10 days of item receipt. I refund the purchase, but not shipping.
Payment
We prefer Pay Pal. Customers are given a three day grace period for payments, but immediate payments are deeply appreciated.
Shipping
I ship world wide and offer free shipping in the US on purchases over $35. Multiple purchases are combined into one shipment.

Etsy has a system during the listing process where we have to estimate how much an item will cost in shipping if purchased with another item. This can be difficult given that I have a range of sizes and weights that could end up in a mix very different from the amount quoted. I refund the difference if it is over $.50 and often cover the expense if it's more than what was estimated, but every now and then, it might be too big of a difference. I can fit lots of the smaller items into a flat rate envelope, but on larger pieces, it would be best to ask about shipping if the total will be under $100.

Prices are quoted for USPS flat rate envelopes or priority mail, but I can ship snail mail if preferred. I use simple packaging, recycling when possible. I use Pay Pal's shipping services which provides a bar code and excellent tracking services, so I normally do not recommend insurance and confirmation, but can include it if requested. Customer pays for the extras.

International customers, we are not allowed to describe our packages as "gifts". I know it decreases your customs fees, but other sellers have gotten into trouble for that, so it's really not a good idea.
