Very whimsical. I collect white and blue rabbits and this looks very good on my kitchen wall under my upper cabinet. It is very unusual and makes me smile when I look at it. Shipping was fast. Highly recommend this artist's work.

About

Handmade ceramic tiles to brighten up your home

From an early interest in relief printing the transition into carving tiles felt natural. I was further attracted to tiles by their utility. They allow us to integrate art into our daily lives on a fireplace, as a trivet, in a shower or kitchen. I feel that this is a fortunate time to be an artisan with the resurgence of interest in the hand- made. I enjoy and take great care in every step of the process; from idea, through drawing, carving and kiln to a finished piece to enliven your home.

After planning and drawing the design, I carve the original in a smooth clay. Next I make a plaster mold of the design. The tiles are then slip cast (liquid clay is poured in to the mold) to capture the fine detail. After drying the tiles slowly over several days, they are fired to be hard but still porous, the bisque fire. They are then painted with underglaze and refired to completely seal the surface. A clear glaze may also be added for a gloss finish.
