I create items for personal adornment from my own lampwork glass beads, copper and silver wire, and sometimes fibers, found objects, and things from the hardware store.

All glass work is properly made using a gas-fired torch, then carefully cleaned, kiln-fired for strength and durability, and finished for your enjoyment and wearing pleasure.

Welcome to A Hot Piece of Glass!

I am Christine Brandel, and I love to create beautiful wearable art. I work primarily in copper, glass, silver, and enamels, with some fiber and mixed-media occasionally thrown in. I am very interested in the history of jewelry and personal adornment, and many of my designs are reflective of early medieval and Roman and Greek influences.

My work conveys a sense of warmth, history, and the philosophy that personal adornment is a form of expression unto itself. When you choose a piece from my shop, you will be receiving a one-of-a-kind item that has been lovingly and carefully handcrafted.

Most items are *completely* handcrafted by me; I typically make all findings, beads, and links myself, with the exception being the teeny tiny seed beads used in some of my designs.

WEARING, CLEANING, AND STORING YOUR JEWELRY:

My work is designed to be worn and loved. The more you wear silver, the more you will protect it from oxidation. As you wear copper, it will take on a lovely patina that is entirely your own, and will be unique. Some of my pieces are chemically patinated to bring out the colors inherent in the metals; these items are completely safe to wear and are carefully cleaned and polished at the time of finishing. Galvanized steel and dark annealed wire pieces are sealed with an acrylic sealer.

Do use a jewelry polishing cloth (non-abrasive) on metals that have not been treated with chemical patina.

Don't use any chemical dips to clean metal or glass jewelry.

Remove copper and silver jewelry before sleeping, swimming, and bathing. Avoid exposing your jewelry to household chemicals such as bleach or ammonia and beauty products such as hairspray, perfume, oils, make-up, hair color, and suntan lotion.

Glass beads and other glass pieces are durable and stand up to daily wear if you treat them gently! Avoid dropping or banging on hard surfaces.

CUSTOM WORK:

I do accept limited custom orders. please convo me for details and to discuss your needs. Due to the time-intensive nature of custom work, prices will start at $45.

WHOLESALE:

Please contact me if you are interested in making wholesale purchases. I do not do any consignment sales at this time.
