Finding myself through fiber and color

Parenting is hard. Staying home with several small children while my husband worked long, hard hours to support us made things hard on a whole new level. I wanted to help, to contribute, in some way to ease the weight on his shoulders. The man gave me everything I could ever have asked for and rarely did for himself.

I began crocheting, and then knitting, items as a hobby to sell. I eventually was introduced to spinning and learned how to do that. Dyeing the fiber was naturally the next step and gave me a whole new creative outlet that I hadn't realized I was missing. I was given a lot of encouragement from my local spinning guild and continued to focus on my dyeing.

Over the years I found that dyeing was all I wanted to do. I ceased the crocheting and knitting for sale and began focusing my creating on making samples to show off the yarn I was now obsessed with making and pairing together.

I now dye yarn between homeschooling four of our five children, I travel to shows to sell my product and hopefully bring some enjoyment to crafters in other places, and my husband has been able to cut down his overtime and spend more time with our family. It's been a win-win-win situation.
