I have worked with AK on two occasions and she was nothing less than amazing. Very professional, quality work. I look forward to working with her again!
Out of Darkness Comes Light
I started creating cards in the summer of 2011 as a way to cope with my depression and anxiety after going through a traumatic experience. Originally, it was simply to cope and soothe, rather than turning to medication.
Eventually, with the support of friends and family, I began exploring options to sell my cards. ak Purple Giraffe on Etsy was born. I opened shortly before Valentine's Day 2012 and I am slowly gaining more notice. I still use my cards as a way to cope, but more often than not, I find myself doing it simply for sheer enjoyment of creating something that someone loves.
Customizing cards is also very rewarding to me, as it helps the customer create a card from their minds and lets them say exactly what they want, even if they are not sure what it is until they see/read it.
My inspiration comes from the papers I see, experiences I've had, or people that I've met. I never know what a card is going to look like until I am sitting at my "creation station" (aka my kitchen table) and begin cutting, gluing, tying, and stamping.

I am a full-time nanny for 5 kids! I am also a competitive runner. I compete in races around the world, including the US, France, Spain and Portugal. I love giraffes and purple so it is the perfect combo for a shop!
