Resurrected Threads: free spirited designs, a connection to nature, and “slow fashion” practices

Resurrected Threads began with my desire to make unique statement pieces for free spirited people. I have loved whimsical clothes for a long time. When I was a teenager I would make all kinds of stitched, patched, dyed, sharpied, and otherwise eccentricified creations to wear. My skills have been honed over the years with experience and training, but the love of whimsy remains. To me clothes are magic: put on the right piece of clothing, the right accessory, and your feelings change instantly. Dressing my babies in clothes that I loved helped me bond with them -and it gave me a reason to get up and start the day during those (these?) difficult months. I love clothes that make me excited to wake up and get dressed. Boring clothes = boring life. Don't be boring! Choose clothing (for you, and for your children) that inspires you to be creative in all aspects of your life.

My background is in clothing design and construction, literature/folklore, and art history. Kind of an interesting trio, I know. I used to wonder what drew me to seek out training in these three different subjects, but once I began Resurrected Threads, I realized how all three are a part of this company. My clothing design and construction skills get put to good use, as I design and make by hand every item for Resurrected Threads. My academic training in folklore and art history help keep me inspired as I read and search for art, especially about fairy tales and folklore. Fairy tales and illustrations of fairy tales are endlessly inspiring. Check out my pinterest account and/or follow me on instagram @resurrectedthreads to see more of what inspires me.
