About my process:
I use woodcut prints to depict my local environment. I go for long walks, and take reference photographs. Once I have an image that I like, I draw it out freehand and decide how best to translate the image to the woodblock medium. I then carve the image into a block of wood. There is a separate block of wood for each layer of color used in the design. I print by hand: each block is inked up, the paper is laid over it, and I burnish with a flat wooden spoon to transfer the image.
