Announcement   Hello dear friends,
Thank you so much for visiting my shop over the years! My customers are the best anywhere!
My business is changing names, and moving to a new shop I will share with my husband Mars - the new shop is called Artistic Anachronism:

https://www.etsy.com/shop/ArtisticAnachronism

I hope you will take a few moments to check it out. You will find all my jewelry there, but you will also find so much more! Mars' art work, T-Shirts from original designs, work working items, stained glass items and anything else we decide to try our hands at. We both love to create, so this will be a one stop shop for all that we do.

Thank you so much for your support. Please consider following the new shop if you followed this one, and have a warm and wonderful holiday season!

About

Jewelry with the Look of the Past

I have been designing Jewelry for over 30 years! For as long as I can remember, I have loved to do art of all kinds. Working in almost every medium, I have done art in many forms. I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Massachusetts in 1988, and shortly after graduating returned to school at the Worcester Center for Crafts to study jewelry techniques formally.
I have always been totally absorbed by the process of designing. I may spend days re-organizing space, cleaning and re-arranging materials and tools, but once I begin to work I get lost! I loose track of time, forget to eat or drink, sometimes I don't even notice when my music stops. On my best days at my work bench, it is almost as if I have left the world I know and gone someplace else entirely, with no access to the sounds and distractions of everyday life.
The principles of design in jewelry for me include basics - comfort for the wearer, quality of the materials, careful construction methods - but also include mood and feeling. I love to wear costumes and try on different looks. When I create a piece of jewelry, I often have a look in mind, sometimes a period in history, a character from a film or a book. I love the idea of making pieces that feel as though they have history. And of course I also love to think of my jewelry and imagine it on the bride or bridesmaid who will end up wearing it!
Over the years I have shown my jewelry in so many places - craft fairs, Renaissance fairs, science fiction conventions, home parties, art shows - more places than I can list here. I opened my Etsy shop in 2010 after hearing about Etsy from a couple of my customers. Etsy has been a really wonderful experience for me, connecting me with customers all over the world! I have been a buyer as well as a seller on Etsy, frequently purchasing unusual materials for my work from sellers here.
Today I live in New Hampshire in a 200 year old house with my husband, 2 dogs and a cat. My studio is in my home and it is truly the place I am happiest! My husband built my studio in an attic over my kitchen that is a wonderful space! I have work benches for all my millions of beads, rolling carts for all my tools and odd supplies, and the view from the skylights in my angled ceiling makes me feel like I am in a tree house. Next year (if all goes well) we will begin refurbishing our antique barn to make a small retail space, and a new and even larger studio!

Payment
This shop accepts payments though Pay Pal and Etsy direct checkout. Using either of these methods allows you to use any major credit or debit card for your convenience. Checks or money orders are also accepted, but items are not shipped until after the check or money order is received and clears the bank.

If you have questions about using PayPal or Etsy Direct Checkout, this article may be helpful: www.etsy.com/help/article/361

Once payment is received, all orders are shipped from New Hampshire in the United States (U.S.), via U.S. postal service, usually within 1 - 2 (business) days. Sundays and holidays, the post office is closed, so orders placed on those days are slightly delayed.

This shop gladly accepts custom orders for jewelry for all occasions. A non-refundable materials deposit for customer orders is required in advanced. This allows me to order materials for your customization. For custom orders, we will discuss and agree on a date for shipping that works for you before payment is accepted.
Shipping
Jewelry by Alison ships world wide from New Hampshire, in the United States.

This shop uses the United States Postal service for shipping by default. If another option is needed, please send me a convo before making the purchase in order to ensure the option you need is available. Expedited shipping is available on request. The standard shipping usually arrives at its destination within a week or so within the U.S.

All jewelry is shipped in a jewelry box, suitable for gift wrapping. The jewelry box is sent in a padded mailing envelope. This method saves my customers the most on shipping! If you have concerns about this type of packaging, please send me a convo. I can work with you to find an alternate method.

The fee for default shipping is usually around $3 within the continental U.S.. Any additional items add $.50 to the shipping price. The shipping includes tracking within the United States, and in some other countries. If you are concerned about tracking, send me a convo and I can research to see whether tracking is available outside the U.S. for your country.

Shipping overseas can be delayed due to significant lay over time in customs. Some countries move things right along, others may delay your package by as much as a few weeks. Please plan ahead if you are purchasing a gift or need jewelry for a special occasion.

Gift Wrapping: If you need an item gift wrapped, please send me a convo. I am happy to do this for you, but I would advise a sturdier mailer, such as a box, in order to protect the wrapping and bow in the mail. I can quote you a rate for this alternate mailer and gift wrap once I know where the item is going.

If you would like insurance for any purchase, please send me a note. I can quickly create a custom listing for you that includes this alternate shipping option.
Refunds and Exchanges
I want you to be happy! If you do not love your purchase for any reason, Please send it back to me in the same condition you received it in, within 7 days. Once I receive the items back, I will refund your purchase price, minus the shipping cost.

It is rare that items are lost or damaged in the U.S. mail, but if this should happen to you, please let me know. The post office offers tracking and limited insurance on all packages. They will reimburse for any lost or damaged items within their guidelines, within the U.S. Packages shipped overseas may not always be reimbursable if lost - please let's discuss if you have concerns.
Additional policies and FAQs
I am happy to take custom orders! I do a lot of wedding work, and that is frequently customized to match the specific colors and the style of the wedding.

Please send me an Etsy chat if you would like to discuss having custom jewelry made. If you decide you would like custom items made, a non-refundable deposit for materials is required before the work begins. If for some reason you do not want the final piece, you may decline the item. The deposit is generally approximately 30% of the total purchased price.

Wholesale: Currently I do not offer my jewelry at any discount off the prices shown here. I am already selling at close to wholesale rates to the public, so I can't afford to discount any further to allow for retail store owners mark up.
