Retro kitschy, eclectic Christmas ornaments and celebrity magnets made with thrifted vintage findings and modern materials

Hi, I'm Faye. I'm a teacher, mom, and lifelong resident of Austin, Texas whose values include crafts, bourbon, classic country music, binging TV with gluegun in hand, vintage thrifting, and celebrity crushes. A-List Ornaments miraculously combines my love of glitter, sequins, tinsel, sparkle, collage, hot glue, Christmas, and vintage kitsch with my fangirl passions. I'm honored to get to send folks all over the country (and even across the ocean!) special ornaments and fun magnets that make them smile and feel understood!

So, once upon a time, I used an old ribbon spool and bits of Christmas trimming to make a sparkly Christmas ornament of a portrait of Barack and Michelle Obama for my family's eclectic Christmas tree. I wanted it to look and feel like some of my heroes were my family friends who had given me the handmade Christmas ornament themselves. I loved it so much that I started making these kitschy pop culture fandom ornaments for my friends and family. I completely delighted in thinking about which characters or celebs my friends and family loved-- choosing from their "A-Lists". Then I got the fun of crafting and gifting people with an entirely unique tree ornament that looked as if the celebrity was a personal friend of theirs- something that they would put up with a smile every single year. My pals felt seen and treasured. I felt really joyful, and I never got sick of making them. I can't wait for YOU to have the chance to give your friends their favorite gifts of the season, and what will become their favorite holiday ornaments- treasures they will show off and brag about, that will bring joy when they unwrap them each year, or every time they see them in their offices, craft rooms, kitchens, dorm rooms, and mantles!

Now I spend a good deal of time hunting down vintage components and items to reuse and up-cycle in order to make super unique and personal Christmas ornaments for y'all. I love nothing more than cutting into some vintage trim or plastic greenery that's been sitting in some grandma's attic for decades and making it into something that celebrates modern pop culture. Thank you so much for checking out the shop!

Frequently asked questions
How long will it take before you ship my ornament?

For in-stock ornaments in general listings, processing time is two to three business days before shipping. Custom orders will take up to 8 business days unless the specific listing states otherwise or we have let you know via Etsy Conversation.

Do you take custom orders?

Yes, gladly! We are thrilled to provide you with an ornament inspired by the celebrity or TV or movie character of your choice. Our custom order queue for Christmas 2018 is currently full. Please contact us via Etsy Conversation if you'd like to be put on a waiting list for a custom listing.

What are the ornaments made from?

Years ago, the first A-List Ornaments were made by gluing printed pictures from the internet, wrapping paper, mardi-gras beads, pompoms, sequins, and miscellaneous hoarded and up-cycled collage materials onto empty cardboard ribbon spools. Then I moved on to plastic lids up-cycled from Play-doh containers, almond tins, or baking powder canisters. Now ornaments begin as flat canning jar lids before getting fancified by our enormous and ever-expanding sparkly collage stash.

Gift wrapping and packaging

We love making gifts! When you buy from A-List, each ornament is carefully and festively wrapped in tissue paper and sent to you in a shipping box. Multiple ornaments will be individually wrapped in tissue and packed in the same box unless otherwise arranged with the seller ahead of time. Further customized gift wrapping and gift shipping options may be available at additional cost, so please inquire via Etsy Conversation if that's something you need.
