Announcement   Welcome to Alkelda Dolls! I create embroidered wool felt figures for use in nature table displays, storytelling, and imaginative play.

Would you like to join me on Facebook? I'd be happy to see you there. Here is the link:

*****

I have switched to a system that covers mainly custom orders, with in-stock dolls periodically showing up in the shop as time allows. Please allow at least 2 weeks per custom order doll (though in many cases, your dolls will be completed much sooner). November and December time slots tend to fill up, while the quieter months of July and August are great for those who like to plan ahead. I am happy to remake dolls from the "sold orders" section, or talk with you about creating a doll from your imagination's wishes.

For packages to destinations outside of the US and Canada: please contact me for shipping options to your specific country.

Colors may appear slightly different on a computer monitor than in person. Photos and text copyright 2016 by Farida Dowler.

Beautiful high quality, craftsmanship. My granddaughter loved The Lady Spring doll, and has been using it to tell beautiful stories.

About

Doll-Maker, Storyteller

Alkelda Dolls is a shop devoted to dolls for storytelling, display, and creative play.

Like Goldie in M.B. Goffstein's Goldie the Dollmaker, I devote time and care with each doll. Every doll I send out into the world has its own personal story. In keeping with the diversity of the Earth's population, my dolls display a range of skin-tones, hair hues and eye colors.

Here is the Indie Artist Spotlight of Alkelda Dolls that Jama's Alphabet Soup featured in June 2013:

I am honored when you decide to bring one of my dolls into your home. I enjoy hearing from people, too. Please feel welcome to send me a note about the stories and dolls in your lives.

Shop policies

Greetings! Welcome to Alkelda Dolls, a shop devoted to dolls for storytelling, display, and gentle play.

I craft each of my creations by hand, with high quality natural materials like wool and cotton. I use some wool-rayon blends too (rayon is wood-based). In keeping with the diversity of the Earth's population, my nature table figures display a range of skin-tones, hair hues and eye colors. I am honored when you decide to bring one of my dolls into your home.

Accepted payment methods

Payment
I accept PayPal for all purchases.

Washington State residents will have 9.5% sales tax automatically added to their orders, of which part will be refunded if the destination city's sales tax is less than Seattle's.
Shipping
Most dolls shipped within the US have flat-rate USPS first class shipping (which covers the cost of postage, packaging, and PayPal fees). Larger sets will have postage adjusted to cover the additional package weight. I ship out packages quickly, but may need up to 2 business days for packages that require an in-person visit to the post office.

Please make sure your Etsy and Paypal addresses are identical. If a package is returned to me because of an error on your part, I will send you a PayPal bill for the amount it costs to reship the package.

International Customers:

The international shipping prices reflect the realities of the United States Postal System. Please contact me prior to purchase and I will set up the listing as reserved for you with the appropriate shipping fees for your country. International customers are responsible for paying any duties or taxes imposed by their countries' postal authorities.

The value I write on the Customs form is the total amount of your order minus the shipping fees. For legal reasons, I cannot mark a package "Gift." If you would like your dolls shipped in two separate packages, please place two separate orders.

***
It is important to me that your package makes it into your hands! While I cannot be held responsible for the package once I've submitted it to the post office, I will work with you to resolve the matter to our mutual satisfaction should a package go missing.

All of my items come simply wrapped for gift-giving unless otherwise indicated. Whenever possible, I reuse shipping boxes and envelopes.
Refunds and Exchanges
I want you to be happy with your order. If you are not satisfied with your purchase, please contact me within 2 days of receipt so that we may make arrangements for a refund, provided that the doll is returned to me in the condition in which it was received. Refunds will be processed after the doll's return. Shipping charges are not refundable.

Unless otherwise indicated, all of my items are for gentle play and display.
Additional policies and FAQs
At this time, I do not do wholesale orders. I will let you know if that policy changes.
