5 out of 5 starsUnbelievable Etsy experience! Holly angel was on my favorites list, but someone else purchased her before I could get back to her. I contacted Alkekda Dolls at midnight a few nights before Christmas to a ask if another could be made. Within minutes, Farida Dowler responded that she would be happy to create another Holly Angel for me. I explained that I did not expect to receive her before Christmas, but my Holly Angel was created and in the mail about 12 hours later, and I did receive her before Christmas. There is something special about Farida Dowler, and there is something magical about her dolls. I felt a visceral connection when I first held Holly Angel in my hand. This doll will be a gift, but I will soon be purchasing my own Alkekda Doll. Thank you, Farida Dowler.

This is my work space. I often tidy it, but entropy takes over with remarkable consistency.

On occasion, I give my dolls vibrant hair colors.

I never thought I would run. But there I am in blue, crossing the finish line of my first race.

My artistic daughter (pictured here at age 2) and husband continue to inspire me. They have good ideas for dolls, too.

Sometimes, my sewing hands need a break.
Doll-Maker, Storyteller
Alkelda Dolls is a shop devoted to dolls for storytelling, display, and creative play.
Like Goldie in M.B. Goffstein's Goldie the Dollmaker, I devote time and care with each doll. Every doll I send out into the world has its own personal story. In keeping with the diversity of the Earth's population, my dolls display a range of skin-tones, hair hues and eye colors.
Here is the Indie Artist Spotlight of Alkelda Dolls that Jama's Alphabet Soup featured in June 2013:

I am honored when you decide to bring one of my dolls into your home. I enjoy hearing from people, too. Please feel welcome to send me a note about the stories and dolls in your lives.
