Announcement
My photography focuses on landscapes, architecture, natural areas, plants, gardens, animals, birds, insects and all forms of wildlife, in cities like Philly and the wilder spaces. My goal is to use my images to help raise awareness to support natural spaces, wildlife and urban gardens and farms. I have been photographing for years (trees, local nature spaces, gardens, small scale farming, native plants, organic vegetables) and have collections I hope to make into books and objects that would help the planet. If you have an idea in mind, please contact me!
CUSTOM REQUESTS are welcome and no extra fee. I receive requests all the time for custom print sizes, from huge to small, requests to convert color images to black and white, for multiples of single prints and they all came out great! I'm also open to making single cards, different sizes, printing on luster or matte papers. If you have an idea for an image, send it along in a convo! I'm always interested to hear from customers and potential customers.
Customer Love: "Just love it! Thank you so much for the note card! Such a wonderful person to buy from!", "Great photo. Terrific personal contact, very helpful. Can't wait to buy more!", "Loved it! Even better in person, thanks!", "Would refer anyone to order one of Allison's pieces. Thank you for bringing your talent into my home, Allison!"
Almost all images are available in many sizes up to 16 x 20" just shoot me a message. I usually respond pretty quickly :) I'm happy to gift wrap and add a small note for free if you are shipping presents directly.
Custom orders are always welcome...don't see what you want...just ask!

I love the support and friendships I have made through Etsy and the great customers who are so supportive. I'm the Handmade Philly Etsy Team leader and I'm happy to answer any questions or offer some advice. Handmade Philly is an open and fun group that gets together and has crafty time!
Donations made to environmental, social and animal protection groups for many purchases: I am donating to Save our Gulf, fighting to protect the Gulf Coast communities and the environment from the BP oil disaster and to the John Heinz Wildlife Refuge in Philadelphia. This was my fault. I did not monitor my email closely and missed this sale. I apologize. The full refund has processed and I switched the email associated with my shop so I am able to monitor it more closely.

Nature Lover Supports Hometown Crafters
I started my shop in 2007 when a co-worker first told me about Etsy. I couldn't believe how great the community and support was. Soon after I joined the Philly Etsy Team (now Handmade Philly) and got involved in their events. I loved the fun people and their amazing generosity. I started hosting events and became the sponsor of the Handmade Philly team here on Etsy. I love meeting the new artists who join everyday and helping out wherever I can.
Our team hosts swaps, holiday ornament-making parties, trips to NYC, museums and Philly art studios, picnics, shows, photo shoots, sewing nights, crafting days and we lend a hand at craft fairs when you need it. Last year we collaborated with West Elm to host a community ornament- making event to benefit a local homeless shelter and we had a blast!
I love going to craft shows and events and meeting new people and getting ideas for crafts to try out and new places to photograph. At one event a customer suggested photographing while kayaking and after a few small trips on our lovely Schuylkill River, I was hooked. I booked a trip to the Everglades to kayak and I love getting out on the Delaware or small local creeks to get a better look at birds and landscapes inacessible on foot.
Now I'm trying to encourage my boyfriend's love of photography and hand-making for our first joint craft fair!

I started taking photographs in 3rd grade, got my first SLR camera in high school , and studied photography and ceramic art at Alfred University and color photography at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. I taught darkroom and digital photography in New Orleans high schools and I am persuing a Master's degree in Landscape Architecture, combining my love or nature and design.
Shop policies
The images primarily come from high quality digital files, but I also enjoy taking some large format film images with my square format camera, which will be noted in the description. I choose to have them professionally printed so I can give customers the best quality print but also at an affordable price.
I try to reduce any waste by reusing envelopes, labels, packing materials and not sending a paper receipt with shipments (you can print yours out online). So if your photograph arrives in a package with a blacked out label on the side, you know it is traveling through the mail for the second time! Luckily photographs require very little packaging to begin with.
Any purchase of animal or refuge photographs or cards includes a donation of $5 to the John Heinz Wildlife Refuge in Philadelphia. When you make a purchase, I will send the $5 to the organization through an on-line service (Network for Good) and you can leave your e-mail address to get an e-card receipt for the transaction. The refuge is a fantastic asset to the city and a great place to go to be immersed in nature, even though it's right in the city. Philadelphians know it as Tinicum, and it's located right near the airport and the Eastwick train stop on the R1 line. Check out more at http://www.friendsoftinicummarsh.org/ Thanks for supporting them!
I am very committed to the environment and to the plants and animals I photograph and I have great respect for the ecosystems I have had the pleasure of visiting and photographing. I keep a blog, www.phillytravelnaturephoto.blogspot.com where I post more.
