About

Almost Necessities

I have been in retail for a very long time. My husband & I started out making wood reindeer planters as a fundraiser for our nephew who needed a liver transplant. That was over 30 years ago. We moved on to craft shows. Then in 1992 we opened our own shop in Enumclaw,WA in an old house. A year later we moved to a better location downtown. The next year our current location became available and we were fortunate to land the lease. We had two shops for a while, but it was way too much work so we moved everything to our current location. It's a great building (a bank building that was built in 1921) right in the middle of town. We haven't done any woodworking for several years, but I do make aprons, beaded tea infusers, beaded teabag holders and some jewelry for the shop. We also have a sweet shop (Sweet Necessities) that keeps my husband busy making to die for caramels.
A few years ago a customer introduced me to Etsy. It's great to have another outlet for my aprons, fabric coasters and tea accessories and cookie cutters. I have shipped all over the world and it's fun to see where I get to go next!
I love Etsy! So much so that I opened another Etsy shop to sell steampunk jewelry and miscellaneous steampunk items. You can check it out at

I've had a retail shop for 20+ years. Love to sew, especially my ruffled aprons. And I love to bead. My beaded tea infusers and teabag holders are very fun and unique. My jewelry is in another etsy shop of mine: Steampunkjewelry1

Welcome! Thank you for browsing Almost Necessities. I have been a gift retailer for nearly 20 years and actually got my start by crafting...woodworking, in fact, back in the day when Country was big. My passions now, besides my grandchildren, are beading and sewing. I hope that you enjoy viewing my treasures. If you have any questions, please, don't hesitate to contact me!
