Announcement   In this shop you'll find some of the best foamsmithing materials for full-contact padded weapons on the market. I try to keep these materials stocked year-round. My most popular product is routed 4lb foam sword kits.

You'll also find pre-made full-contact weapons, which I make in batches several times a year, and which tend to sell out very quickly. I make Plastidipped swords, 16oz Dagorhir-legal spears, javelins, and axes. I make these in small batches and they sell out very quickly, so if you want to know what's in the works you should follow my posts in the Dagorhir Battle Games facebook group.

In every weapon I build, I strive to balance historical styling, performance, durability, and safety. I sell nothing I wouldn't use myself.

This isn't my full-time job (that's studying and teaching medieval history), but foamsmithing has been my passionate hobby for almost a decade. I play Dagorhir, and have volunteered in various capacities at six of the past seven Ragnarok weapon checks. Everything I sell meets Dagorhir's requirements. Most of it will also pass in similar games (Belegarth, Darkon, Amtgard, etc). Contact me if you have any questions about my weapons and your game's rulesets.

I'm not really an etsy seller (I just use this shop to keep track of orders). Please feel free to message me here, on the Dagorhir national boards (Alric), or facebook (if you know my real-world name). I'll be happy to chat.

I do not currently take custom orders. If you ask me about doing a custom order and I don't reply, please don't take it personally.

Returns and exchanges
Everything I sell is guaranteed to pass its first Dagorhir weapon check. If it does not, contact me, and I will make it right (refund, return, or exchange). The one exception is stab tips. I use the standard design that most chapters accept (http://www.dagorhir.com/forums/index.php?topic=23619.0), but (as I'm sure you're aware) stab tip testing can be wildly inconsistent, and I cannot guarantee that your event's weapon checkers will be on board with national standards.

Furthermore, if the weapon should suffer from any manufacturing defects, contact me and I will be sure the problem is resolved to your satisfaction.

I do not accept returns for reasons other than defects or failure to pass first Dagorhir weapon check.

I can't prevent normal wear and tear, but I do strive to make weapons that are excellent. If you do not feel the weapon you receive is excellent, contact me and we will reach a resolution.
Shipping
I pack and ship orders on the weekend. That means that if you place an order on Monday, it will not be packed and shipped until Saturday.

If you need a rush order, please message me; I may not be able to accommodate all rush requests, but I'll do my best.

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are answers to some questions you might have about the weapons and materials I sell. If you have a question that isn't answered here, don't hesitate to contact me!

Do your weapons come with a guarantee?

Everything I sell is guaranteed to pass its first Dagorhir weapon check. If it does not, contact me, and I will make it right (refund, return, or exchange). The one exception is stab tips. I use the standard design that most chapters accept (http://www.dagorhir.com/forums/index.php?topic=23619.0), but (as I'm sure you're aware) stab tip testing can be wildly inconsistent, and I cannot guarantee that your event's weapon checkers will be on board with national standards.

How safe are your weapons?

Everything I sell is over-engineered for safety. I have worked and run more Dagorhir weapon checks than I can count, and I know what is needed to make a weapon as safe as current technology allows. Everything I sell is designed to be swung or stabbed as hard as possible without injuring your opponent.

That said, as all experienced foam fighters know, foam breaks down, accidents happen, and even the safest Dagorhir sword can sometimes cause a serious injury. It is essential to properly check weapons after every use to ensure they remain safe, and everyone must accept that full contact fighting can despite our best efforts occasionally result in broken bones, bruises, concussions, etc. My swords are among the safest in Dagorhir, but use them with prudence to stay safe. I cannot promise you will not be injured. You know the drill.

How long do your weapons last before they have to be repaired?

This depends on how you fight. I have sold weapons to hard-hitting fighters who used them every week for a year before the 2lb foam had to be replaced. One famously hard hitter from Illinois had to replace his blade after 5 months. If you hit a lot of plate armor, you might wear out the edge faster. There are, as I'm sure you know if you've been around for a while, a lot of variables involved.

I use a blend of 4lb and 2lb foams to improve longevity compared to standard builds, and most of my customers report greater longevity from my weapons than they get with other weapons. If you are unsatisfied with the longevity of one of my weapons' blades, you should contact me and describe your problem. If it's the result of a manufacturing defect rather than normal wear and tear, I will cover the cost of repairs.

What games will these weapons pass in?

I'm a Dagorhir player with nearly a decade's experience building and checking Dagorhir weapons (I have worked in, and volunteered for, more weapon checks than I can count). Everything I make will pass a standard Dagorhir weapon check.

I'm not as familiar with the specific construction and testing requirements of other games (Belegarth, Darkon, Amtgard, etc), and I don't necessarily design my weapons to pass their rules. Nevertheless, these games' requirements are usually very similar to Dagorhir's, so my weapons will pass in most cases. If you have any questions, you should contact me before placing your order.

How do I assemble your blade kits?

Here is a tutorial for assembling my blade kits: http://www.dagorhir.com/forums/index.php?topic=26058.0

Where do you get your foam?

I've spent several years tracking down the highest quality foams at the best prices. I order from several wholesalers, and have special relationships with some to purchase foams which are not part of their regular stock. I get my 4lb foam from a warehouse which purchases it specially from the factory and ships it to me on a pallet in the back of a tractor trailer every couple of months.

What glue do you use?

Industrial grade DAP. It's similar to the normal DAP sold at Walmart, but with scarier solvents. It comes in 5 gallon tubs. It's amazing - it spreads better, dries faster, and bonds stronger than normal red can DAP. I wish I could sell it to you, but the USPS won't let me ship it because they think it will blow up and kill everyone.

You can get great results with the normal red can DAP that Walmart sells, though. That's what I recommend you use if you buy my blade kits.
