Right Where I Belong

~Our Start~

For as long as I can remember, I always planned to have a job in the medical field. Some days I wanted to be a doctor, other days a nurse or a physical therapist. I never dreamed I would end up being a jeweler. However, looking back, I should have seen it coming.

I grew up with art and independence flowing through my veins. Being creative was always emphasized, from learning to cook to any sort of crazy craft project I got into my mind I wanted to do. My parents were, and still are, entrepreneurs in several fields. In addition to her self-employed day job, my mother photographed the world around her. She then would create traditional darkroom photographs, often with me helping to shake trays of chemicals to prevent the development from being uneven. As a result of her selling her work, my brother and I grew up at art shows, getting to know all of the local artists that set up their tents to sell what they had crafted with their own hands. A deep love of art and all things creative and handmade grew in me. However, my desire to be a doctor (or nurse or physical therapist) never wavered.

I started college with that burning desire stronger than ever. The first two years were easy, and I loved my pre med major. Right before I started my junior year, I decided that I needed a job. Not just any job would work as it needed to fit around my class and studying schedules. After being unable to find a job that would work, my mom, being an artist and entrepreneur, suggested that I create my own job. She encouraged me to explore making something and selling it at our local art market and on Etsy. I had always enjoyed making jewelry, so I decided that was a good place to start trying things. I made a few beaded items, and then stumbled haphazardly into metalwork. It was love at first hammer blow.

Within a year and a half, my love for all things metalwork had become cemented. No longer did I want to be a doctor, but I wanted to spend my life making jewelry. A few months before graduating, I made the decision to run my business full time instead of continuing my medical education. It was an incredibly scary decision, but every day I am so grateful I took the leap of faith. I love being able to spend my day loving everything that I do. Work no longer feels like work when you love your job. They say hindsight is 20/20 and now, I can clearly see that this is where I belonged all along.

With the unwavering support of my family and customers, my little job has turned into a thriving business. My husband has joined me part-time and helps out whenever needed in the studio and at shows. He’s actually proven to be a natural with a jeweler’s saw! With his help, I’ve been able to make my jewelry available in multiple venues, including Etsy and my website as well as art shows and stores around the Northwest United States. We are both so excited about being able to continue growing and being able to bring even more of our work to our loyal customers, both locally and around the world.

~What Makes Us Special~

In a world where it is so easy to make things by machine, we have chosen to keep things traditional and truly made by hand. All of our items are stamped by hand one letter or design at a time (Yes, really! You won't find an engraving machine here!). Virtually all of our metal is cut in our in-home studio by either myself or my husband, Jon. This allows us to source only what we feel to be the best materials and to be able to make your new item completely ourselves. We have complete control over the entire process, which we feel is crucial to being able to create our best work. Where possible, we use recycled materials and all metal scrap is recycled, preventing excess metal from ending up in our landfills. We take great pride in our work, from selecting the metal we use to packaging up your finished piece, and we know you'll be able to tell the difference.

Custom and personalized orders

I accept custom and personalized orders when possible based on my current workload. If you have an idea, please feel free to ask as I may be able to fit you in!

Care instructions

Care instructions are included with every order. Chains are inspected for quality prior to shipment and I guarantee each chain for 30 days from receipt for rare manufacture defects. If you have a chain break through no fault of your own within the first 30 days, I am happy to exchange it for you. Please do not dispose of the chain as we may request it back or require pictures to figure out what went wrong.

Wholesale availability

We are approved Etsy wholesale vendors and all of our products are certified Made in Montana. Our current line sheet can be found on Etsy Wholesale. If you are not a current Etsy Wholesale buyer, we are happy to give you a pass code to view our line sheet.

Gift wrapping and packaging

All of our items are packaged ready to give as a gift. If you are sending an item directly to the recipient, we are happy to include a gift message free of charge. Just leave your message in the "Note to Always There Designs" box at checkout and we'll make sure it gets included.

Packages Lost in Transit

If an item is lost in transit, I am happy to replace your item. For a package to be lost, it cannot be shown as being delivered via delivery confirmation/tracking and USPS has to have attempted to track it down with no result after a reasonable length of time. Keep in mind that USPS does not guarantee the delivery times they quote for most shipping speeds and will not even look into a lost package until it is not showing tracking until the quoted delivery time has passed by a few days. Please contact me for help in tracking down a lost item. If an item is shown as delivered, I am not responsible for replacing your item. Please contact USPS about opening a case if your item is shown as delivered but cannot be found.

Returned Packages with Undeliverable Addresses

We only ship to the address provided at checkout by the buyer. Because of this, packages returned as undeliverable due to an incorrect address provided by the buyer will be refunded the price of the item(s) in the order only. Shipping and any other fees (Rush processing, etc) will not be refunded. The refund will be issued after the returned package has reached us safely. If the buyer wishes to have the item(s) reshipped instead of refunded, the buyer is responsible for the cost to reship the package as well as the original shipping cost.
