Announcement    Lost somewhere between the Mediterranean and the Caribbean Sea - Alynaomie is a celebration of my rural, cross-cultural heritage. In a world that isn't always inclusive, it is important for me to be able to create work that celebrates the "other." A.N.C.

Perdida entre el Mediterráneo y el Mar Caribe, Alynaomie es una celebración de mi herencia rural y transcultural. En un mundo que aveces no es inclusivo, es importante para mí poder crear arte que celebra el «otro». A.N.C.

Everyday is Fería Season: An Ode to the Heritage of “Otherness”

Aliyah N.C. is a Jamaican-American teaching artist, illustrator and writer with a B.F.A. in graphic design from St. John's University (2019). She likes to use her words and ideas to promote social awareness and education, and in 2018, she was awarded the Social Actions Initiative Award by the SWS as a part of the Health & Migration project. Her work combines a background in fine arts, graphic design and magical realism with a colorful counter-narrative. Most recently, in February 2021, her work Celebrating Cross-cultural Perspectives became a part of the special collections at Barnard College Library and the catalogs at Printed Matter. In April 2021, her textile design was published in Uppercase Magazine under the title “Celebrating the Rural Caribbean.” In the past, she has also exhibited work at Kinetik Arts (2021) and Yeh Art Gallery. alynaomie.com
