Alynaomie - Outdoors Art & Illustration

Staten Island, New York

Announcement    Lost somewhere between the Mediterranean and the Caribbean Sea - Alynaomie is a celebration of my cross-cultural heritage. In a world that isn't always inclusive, I believe it is important to create work that celebrates the "other."

Perdida en algún lugar entre el Mediterráneo y el Mar Caribe, Alynaomie es una celebración de mi herencia transcultural. En un mundo que aveces no es inclusivo, creo que es importante crear arte que celebra el «otro».

Aliyah N.C. is a Jamaican-American teaching artist, illustrator and writer with a B.F.A. in graphic design from St. John's University (2019). She likes to use her words and ideas to promote social awareness and education, and in 2018, she was awarded the Social Actions Initiative Award by the SWS as a part of the Health & Migration project.

Lost between the Mediterranean and the Caribbean Sea, her artistic practice, Alynaomie, is a celebration of her cross-cultural heritage. Most recently, in February 2021, her work Celebrating Cross-cultural Perspectives became a part of the special collections at Barnard College Library and the catalogs at Printed Matter.

In April 2021, her textile design was published in Uppercase Magazine under the title “Celebrating the Rural Caribbean.” In the past, she has also exhibited work at Kinetik Arts (2021) and Yeh Art Gallery. (alynaomie.com)
