Announcement   A Lynn Ceramics is more than pottery. I make bowls, dishes, mugs, plates, and handmade stoneware and porcelain pottery, but there are also blankets, notebooks, journals, and other gifts and home items to be found! I make all items found in this shop myself. If you're interested in learning more about my process, please visit my about page: https://www.etsy.com/shop/ALynnCeramics/about/

I do accept custom orders, and would love to help you make a gift basket or custom item so you can give (or have!) the most special, most personal gift at the party. If you're looking for wedding, new home, new baby or holiday gift ideas, check out facebook.com/alynnceramics, then convo me with your ideas. Also check Facebook for coupon codes, discounts, and what's coming next!

If you're looking to see my works in person, feel free to visit Chartreuse Studios on Park Ave., in Rochester, New York (https://www.facebook.com/ChartreuseStudios).

I also accept Etsy gift cards!

Please enjoy my rustic, happy home style pottery, and ask me if you have any questions.

I love it. I hope the birds do! I have several kinds of birds that like peanuts so I am putting them in this. Thanks so much.

About

This is a shop for a crafter-turned-artist

I was, at first, a reluctant artist. I created and crafted like most kids, but was drawn particularly to photography and pottery from a very young age. I had the great fortunes of having an indulgent and encouraging mother and fantastic teachers; I was enrolled in adult photography classes at age 13, and still remember the very first time I sat at a pottery wheel and made a bowl with the guidance of Ron Scales, art teacher extraordinaire. However, for many years these were just hobbies. I went to school for Art History instead of Studio Art. I joined the Genesee Center for Arts and Education (www.geneseearts.org), but spent more time helping on the fundraising committee than I did in the studio.

Nonetheless, I’ve never been able to shake the compulsion to create. No matter how busy life is, it brings me comfort to sit down at the wheel with freshly wedged clay, to pick up a crochet hook and work until my tea has gone cold, or to go into the city of Rochester at dawn with a mug of coffee and a camera.

I’ve worked in retail for a long time, yet my friends never said, “This is Amanda, she works in the mall,” when they introduced me to someone new. They would say, “This is Amanda, she’s an artist.” At first I felt like it was some kind of conspiracy; I felt like it was more appropriate to be known for what I do, and that they were exaggerating my abilities by giving me the title, “Artist.” After establishing a small business and Etsy page to sell my pottery, and being accepted into the Visual Studies Master of Fine Arts program for photography through Brockport, I realized I may have underestimated myself for a long time. I have come to understand it is best to be known for what you love and how you see the world. I am, after all, an artist.

Friends have been saying it for years, but I’ve embraced the introduction, “This is my friend, Amanda. She’s an artist.” Hi! I'm Amanda, and I'm a potter, photographer and artist. I enjoy being known for what I love instead of what I do for a living.

My primary job is to beg for kibbles, but I also often grace the images of items for sale in this shop. I clock in at 18 lbs., and I have more than enough love to go around for everyone!

Shipping
I ship as soon as possible for each order, usually within two-three days. As the post office is closed on Sunday, I will not ship on that day.
Refunds and Exchanges
Many of the items I ship are fragile, and while I bundle them up before sending them on their way, I understand that accidents can happen. If you receive an item that was damaged during shipping, please message me a picture of the wounded item, and I’ll refund your money. Any lost items I will do my best to find before issuing a refund; as many of my items are One of a Kind, replacement is often impossible.

Please contact me if there is a problem with your order; I’m happy to work on a reasonable solution for you! I will accept exchanges or returns within 2 weeks (14 days, weekends and business days included).

Please message me at the time of order if you would like me to gift wrap your purchase.
