About

Painted Ladies

As a child, I loved to draw and create detailed, intricate pictures that captured the little worlds in my imagination. The love of this endeavor has never left me. During my senior year of art school, it took the form of a series of "painted ladies" and it's still primarily manifesting itself in this form.

My love of the past, especially the 1940s and 50s, is the largest inspiration behind my work. My desire to experience that time period, to know more about it, and to imagine the existences of women who lived through it gives me a foundation for the fictional portraits I paint. My love of literature, animals, travel, fashion, and creating color palettes gives me endless ways to play with the aesthetics of these portraits. Each painted lady is like a friend, representing a different point in my life; She is a keeper of sects, both mine and her own.

The year after I graduated, I began selling prints and post cards of these ladies in this etsy shop and having solo shows of my works. I continue to do both of these things, which I am grateful for and love immensely, in addition to working with children in the public school system.

Thank you so much for stopping by!
