Announcement   All seems infused with magic, the morning light shines brilliantly on our home and yard tucked gently in the hills here in Upstate Washington County, NY. The hot previous days brought dark skies and thunderstorms but the extreme heat and mugginess were whisked away and today the sun shines on the abundant Day Lilies and Bee Balm. The air is clear and crisp with mist rising and revealing the beauty of farm fields and mountains.
My dye buckets are outside lined up near the large tree stump covered with the trumpet vine. The fence next to the buckets is where my llama Vanilla keeps guard over the homestead. And my jersey cow Steppin Up grazes happily on the now plentiful fresh grass. My studio window is open wide letting in the fresh fragrant air. The rebirth of the batik season is here!

Thank you always for making this past year a success and for visiting my shop. In the months ahead I will be finishing and posting lots of new work on Etsy.

Always check your PayPal or credit card address to be sure it is current when you place your order to ensure it will arrive at the correct address.

Please be aware that many possibilities are available in my shop. My images can be printed much, much larger , as mirror images, in light boxes, printing on glass and framing between plexiglass are a few of the options. Don't hesitate to ask if you have a different idea.

Shipping most products takes 2 days to ship, but limited edition prints and custom printed fabric, scarves and pillows may take over two to three weeks to arrive if I have to place an custom order for printing. For rush shipping, please convo me! Overnight is always available but is expensive.

If you want to return an item, please convo me and return in the original condition within a month from your purchase.

About

Farm girl meets the Internet

The first big challenge for me was that having worked on a farm for 30something years, I was tuned into animals, plants, fencing, nature and had no experience with computers! It was a slow process learning, complicated by the fact that our Internet connection was very poor.

I met a young woman in nearby Glens Falls, New York, Kate Austin-Avon, who has exceptional patience and skills who helped me learn how to set up my Etsy shop, prepare and upload images, set up a newsletter, website and more.

The other challenge was organizing my day. On the farm my day was pre scheduled to care for the animals with a mid day break in which projects and household needs could be worked on. (I still work on farms but not full time and they are not mine, but I still enjoy working with animals).

I grew up in New England and attended Massachusetts College of Art. Then I fell in love with batik and my husband Richard, who whisked me away to a dairy farm in upstate New York. Many beautiful sights inspire my farmscape batik.

I graduated from Massachusetts College of Art, in Boston and went on to study printmaking at the Museum School of Fine Art also in Boston as well as studying in Rome, Italy for a summer. It was later in the Berkshire hills that I fell in love with the batik process and also my husband, Richard. Richard whisked me away after his cows broke in with my horses. We searched together for a farm and settled on one in Washington County, New York, Amity Farm, where we had a jersey cow dairy. Many beautiful images accumulated over those years where the cows were rotationally grazed for 6 months of the year at the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains. Batik is a flowing sensous and soothing medium that is an ancient method of painting on fabric with wax and dyes. A batik may have up to a dozen or more wax and dyebaths before the wax is removed. The results are always magic! Much of my work relates to fantasy, mythology, and primordial themes. The farm has given inspiration to portray horses, cows, sheep, barns, fields and mountain views (farmscapes).
