It is summer now and the warm breezes of the morning are so soothing in contrast to the hot mid day sun. I love to get out early with my animals and to start dyeing some batik before the super heat sets in. Southerners would laugh at what I call hot but I like it cool and that is why I live here with the cold winters that are easier for me than the summer heat.
My husband remains in a nursing home and in spite of how much I want him home I am grateful he is cared for and nearby so I can visit everyday.
The sky has a feeling of optimism and the sounds of nature are nourishing to me. Now is the time I can be outside again dyeing my batik art.
I am so glad to have you checking in to my shop. My website is in the process of renovating and you can still visit but the new will emerge in a few months.
Thank you all for your appreciation and understanding.

5 out of 5 starsI Love my new batik style, wrap-around skirt that is awash with elements of nature as seen through the eyes of this artist/designer. The patterns are bold, yet feminine, draping softly when wrapped around the waist. I imagine it can be worn in other ways, as well. I just haven’t experimented enough with that possibility. As a skirt, this would pair nicely with a casual/dressy sleeveless top—blouse— halter top—dressier tank, or bodysuit. Another Unique piece that will certainly be noticed! Love this Stunning, wrap-around skirt! It has an attached black sash that is rather long for versatility in wrapping and tying no around the waist. Very, very Happy w/All my purchases! :). 💜 Janice L.

5 out of 5 starsI am So obsessed with kimono styled coverups—They pair so well with virtually everything (shorts, skirts, jeans, leggings, dresses) to elevate your Style in a sophisticated, dramatic, fun, or feminine way! It pulls an outfit together… That being said—-This nature’s elements, inspired kimono is magical and whimsical. Again, the pattern is gorgeous and unique! It’s lightweight—but Not at all flimsy. The colors are earthy and organic. Quality artistry by a designer inspired by her unique vision of nature, and its elements parlayed into wearable art. Floats lightly over the body and is very flattering. Stunning and versatile to wear. Infatuated with this artist’s designs and obvious talent! Janice L.

Farm girl meets the Internet
The first big challenge for me was that having worked on a farm for 30something years, I was tuned into animals, plants, fencing, nature and had no experience with computers! It was a slow process learning, complicated by the fact that our Internet connection was very poor.
I met a young woman in nearby Glens Falls, New York, Kate Austin-Avon, who has exceptional patience and skills who helped me learn how to set up my Etsy shop, prepare and upload images, set up a newsletter, website and more.
The other challenge was organizing my day. On the farm my day was pre scheduled to care for the animals with a mid day break in which projects and household needs could be worked on. (I still work on farms but not full time and they are not mine, but I still enjoy working with animals).

I grew up in New England and attended Massachusetts College of Art. Then I fell in love with batik and my husband Richard, who whisked me away to a dairy farm in upstate New York. Many beautiful sights inspire my farmscape batik.
