Announcement   Welcome! Learn about my eggs!

I love making my own fabric and turning fluff into bags, scarves, cat balls, and felted soap. Recently I added real egg ornaments to my site.

If you give me a week I can make a customized egg ornament with the year and or name. I am limited regarding the little caricature that goes inside. If you have a specific animal I may have to order it.
Ammi Eggs
I started making “Faberge” eggs in North Carolina in 1972 while my husband was stationed at Pope Air Force base. Eggery in the south was big back then. I learned to hinge duck eggs, with doors, and put music boxes inside. I even made a couple of Ostrich egg clocks. What I loved making most were the little chicken eggs covered with fabric and little scenes inside. When I moved to the Monterey Peninsula I sold my eggs at a Christmas store in Carmel and at The La Playa Hotel Christmas show where Maggie Eastwood (Clint’s wife) bought personalized egg ornaments for their children.

I stopped making eggs as life went on, but always kept a supply of miniatures. In 2041 I brought out my supplies and made a batch for Artistic Portland, a Co-op store for artists in Portland Oregon. I love making these little ornaments. They are very sturdy and have two layers of glue plus a layer of “diamond dust”. My friends and family have had these ornaments for 40 years and bring them out every year to hang on their tree.

I hope you enjoy them too!

My Felting Story
Felting is an ancient way of making fabric out of sheep’s wool (among other fleece). All of my pieces are made from colorful roving or batting (raw carded and dyed wool) that I have combined with warm water and soap and agitated by rolling, rubbing and/or throwing until their fibers cling together and become felt.

If you are in Portland I have my felted items at Artistic Portland, a fabulous artist co-op store 318 SW Taylor St. Portland, Or. 97204

I give 10% of my sales to Partners in Health, Paul Farmers Organization in Haiti. "Mountains Beyond Mountains" is a wonderful book about Paul and his good works.

Love this soap. It is like having a built in washcloth. I have my husband and son both hooked on this soap too!

Thank you so much for the fast delivery! It matches the shirt I had in mind perfectly and I can't wait to show it off next week at my trade show!

Welcome! I'm Ammi. I recently discovered the art of felting. I got there by way of felted foods for my grandson, then to recycled angora/cashmere sweaters for hats, to needle felting and then wet felting. My daughter is my inspiration. She has had an etsy shop for her children's super capes.

I love the color and feel of wool, silk and mohair in all of it's forms. Because i am very practical i want the color and feel to be useful too! I tend toward the bright vibrant and rich colors. I strive to make my products tough and last-able. If you have any problems I would be happy to fix them.

All wool should be hand washed.

Please feel free to ask about customization or adjustment on any product, I'm always happy to work with you.
