Dashing Design, Fetching Photography & Pleasing Prints
When my husband and I decided to pack up and move to Newfoundland the week before my maternity leave finished, I told myself I was thrilled to be setting out on a new adventure. I was not thrilled. I was terrified. I was leaving behind my family, friends, and the best job I'd ever had to move to a city with a small, highly competitive and not very lucrative graphic design job market.
What I really wanted was to stay home with my son and work for myself. Then a friend introduced me to Etsy and Amy Adams Printables was born. I was cautiously optimistic in those early days - but I never dreamed my little business would grow like it has!
I don't know whether my passion for creating is a result of nature or nurture but I definitely come by it honestly. The women in my family are knitters, quilters, doll makers, rug hookers, gardeners, interior decorators, DIY-ers and compulsive crafters. Like them, I am obsessed with colour, texture and pattern. I love crazy quilts, driftwood and folklore combined with simple, sophisticated typography and I believe that beautiful design should be accessible and affordable. So that is what I strive to offer here in my shop. Beautiful imagery and clean, modern design that's a little bit rustic with a touch of whimsy.
So here I am sitting outside a McPlayland, fielding emails and Etsy messages while scribbling notes for my About Page. The adventure continues...

FONTS
Only the text itself can be edited in the template. Font selections, sizes and colours are locked/embedded and cannot be changed.
PRINTING
There is no white ink in standard printing. Any designs with white text must be printed on white cardstock. In the chalkboard designs, for instance, the chalkboard background is actually an image printed onto white cardstock; all of the white text is “knocked out” of the image. Any white you see is simply the absence of ink or the paper color itself.
PAPER SELECTION
You should print on a white or off-white cover stock that is at least: 10 PT - 80 lb COVER - 216 G/M2 and that works with your printer. Anything lighter than this could be to flimsy for mailing (specifically for the RSVP postcard). The whiter your paper is, the brighter and truer your colours will print. I don’t recommend printing directly onto metallic-finish, bright, dark or patterned papers but mounting your finished, trimmed invitations onto these papers and leaving a bit of a border can look really polished and high-end.
Paper quality makes a difference too - I have found that with cheaper, store-brand papers the ink tends to bleed and result in muddy colors and fuzzy edges. There are some paper companies out there that will provide cheap (or even free) samples to test print with before you commit - so its worth looking around and trying out some samples if you have time.
You can find basic card stock at any local office supply, stationery, or craft store. There are also lots of online paper retailers out there with some beautiful papers and envelopes...

Custom and personalised orders
I am not accepting custom orders as I am taking an extended parental leave until my youngest child starts school. These days I am limited to answering questions and troubleshooting. I hope to be able to offer custom services again in the future and I will add it to my shop announcement when the time comes.
