Announcement   Thank you for visiting Aunt Mina's Top Drawer. There are many beautiful antique and vintage linens scattered throughout the shop. I love antique linens because they tell the story of faraway places and times past. They also make thoughtful gifts. Florentine Love is our new section. There you will find all of the Florentine boxes and home accessories you have come to expect from us at Aunt Mina's Top Drawer. I'm Alice, a lucky lady who loves what she does. For almost twenty years I have bought and sold vintage clothing and interesting antique textiles. I choose each item that is here individually when I go to an estate sale or clean-out, as opposed to buying huge lots of stuff, putting them online and hoping for the best. My goal is to make the experience original and fun for everyone who walks through my virtual doors. You will find things from this side of the Atlantic and the other, especially Italy, the land of my grandparents (all of them) and my most favorite Aunt, Mina, as she was called. I hope that you will enjoy your time in my shop.

About

Aunt Mina's Top Drawer- A Labor of Love

For 15 years i have sold antiques. . Brimfield is my favorite place to sell. There i shared my space with an extraordinary textile dealer who helped me to refine my collections, and shared all her clients with me. For that reason I have done very well as a seller. But, antique shows can be physically difficult, so i decided to try online selling. With the proceeds of one show i bought my desk-top computer right after christmas of 2010 when my husband gave me a digital camera . It took me 6 months to try the camera, i was so afraid of it. Once i did, i opened the shop. Now, here is the story of the shop name, Aunt Mina's Top Drawer. When i was six, Aunt Mina arrived in the US from Italy. She moved into my grandma's house and had her own room there. She was very kind and quiet and took great care of the linens she brought with her from Italy. She kept them wrapped in tissue in her dresser. I loved to watch her take her pretty things from the dresser and show them to me, and can still hear the tissue paper rustle as she unwrapped them. But her top drawer was the most fun. I never knew what she would take out of it! Sewing things, mirrors, pictures of saints, photographs of my relatives in the old country, scarves, rosaries, hankies, lace, and a little jewelry. What precious memories i have of her. And, you never know what you'll find in my shop, either. Some things are from Italy, most are Americana..It's a fun surprise, just like Aunt Mina's Top Drawer. I love you, Zia.

In the picture I am on the left. Born into a sewing family, always loved to make things, learned how to sew myself, out of necessity, when i moved away from my family. The sewing continues to this day. My love of antiques born of necessity too.

Hello, welcome to aunt mina's top drawer by angelinabella. My great Aunt Mina Fedele came to this country in1954 from Italy when i was just six years old. I will remember always the November day she walked into my grandmother's house followed by a huge trunk. The trunk was full of hand made linens from my other great aunt, a cloistered nun who lived in a convent somewhere near the great monastery of Monte Casino. Assorted relatives added to the trunk Perugia candy in colorful tins and funky pottery. I fell in love with the beauty of my Italian heritage, and that love continues to this day. So, in Aunt Mina's Top Drawer you will find many little treasures from the land of the boot. I love Americana too, being an American first, so you will find nice pieces of antique Americana. The rest of the items i have chosen reflect my interest in just about anything that is beautiful or a little bit out of the ordinary. There are even a few things that have been hand made by me.
