Humor will help.

My work is inspired by crisis, actually, and moving through big things with small courtesies and any available humor. Like in the NICU when we thought Thing 1 spiked a sudden fever, but in fact I had my hand on the temperature sensor! Discovering I am related to Lucille Ball inspires me to look for and share humor always.

After Thing 1 was born my doc suggested knitting to direct my unruly energy. The top university where I work was in its 4th year of wage freeze and we were slipping out of the middle class. Perfect! My business is located in a suburb of Pittsburgh. My workspace is a riot of color, with vintage ties and buttons, and yarn and beads, piled up on a loveseat in our living room where I try to parent and craft after grueling days in the library. We call it “the blob” and it grows and shrinks and changes shape and color without rhyme or reason – seemingly on its own. I shop cotton for economic and bodily health. It is a renewable plant resource grown in the US and people are rarely allergic. I try to buy US-grown or US-made fibers – single-handedly bringing this economy around, ha ha!

My ‘running mate’ helps with the shop, designing tees, some modeling, running to the post office, and picking up supplies. Thing 1 and Thing 2 also help. They model, photograph me modeling, wind yarn hanks into balls, and surround me with stuff and best of all HUMOR.

Quitting my day job and going home to Maine are on the horizon.

Welcome to Angel Leigh Designs!

I can do whatever you want, including shop for other colors and smaller youth sizes.

I usually pick up tees at Michaels for each order, and here are their colors and sizes and CLICK PRODUCTS:

They only stock orange around Halloween, in October. The selection of colors in women's cut is limited, varies, and are usually all pastels.

*American Sizes:*
An ADULT Medium tee, fresh out of the washing machine, from shoulder seam (where it meets the sleeve) to shoulder seam across the back measures 17.5" From the top of the neck to the bottom of the hem it measures 27.5"

An ADULT Large tee, fresh off the shelf, measures across the shoulders 21.5" and 28.5" down the back, top of collar to bottom of hem.

ADULT XL is 23" shoulder to shoulder and 30.75" collar to hem.

Their YOUTH small is equivalent to an American size 6/8: 15" across the shoulders and 27" collar to hem in the back.

My shop items are all handmade, pattern-free items using lots of recycled products, except the tee shirts which I'll buy new if you order one. All recycled or upcycled materials are listed as such in the item description.

Please feel free to contact me and ask for special orders, but do allow adequate time for completion, as I work full time and have two little kids.

I'm converting to first class mail to reduce my prices. I have used the US Post Office's Priority flatrate envelope or box for everything in the U.S. For items mailed to continental US addresses, this means you should get it in two days, and I get a delivery confirmation number to pass along. For international orders, expect 6-10 days and no tracking number (sorry).

I'm willing to upgrade shipping speed for an extra fee if you're in a rush. Express rate is the only thing the USPS will guarantee, and seems to run in the $20 range.

No shipping fees if you can meet me at one of Pittsburgh's major universities. :)
Refunds and Exchanges
If you aren't happy with your item, please return it and I will happily refund the cost of the item or remake a tee or try to make you happy in some way. But the item must be in the same condition as when I sent it. Just let me know.
Additional policies and FAQs
Here's what I think about custom knit and crochet orders. Contact me, we'll talk about it, I'll make it, and send you pictures of it. If it's not what you want I will alter it or just put it in the shop. I also had a customer who wanted something kid-sized and when I sent the pictures, it wasn't *exactly* the same, so I pulled the bottom third out and re-knit it and she LOVED it. It may take time, since I have a day job, but I'm willing to try almost anything.
