This was a beautiful shekere but I ordered the wrong size. I had no problem with the seller refunding my money back. She's made me a larger one in this style. Please see my review on that one. Great seller, with the best customer service skills!

About

In the beginning there was a Gourd...

I planted some Martin House gourds in my front flower bed so that my grandchildren could make birdhouses. By the time that the gourds had grown and dried, they had lost interest but I was hooked!

Five years and hundreds of gourds have passed and I now have my poor husband plowing up half of our back yard for the "Gourden" every spring. The front porch is usually covered with Egg Gourd vines through out the summer months.

When I decided to make lamps- I taught myself how to slump glass (with the help of my sister Kathy) and a kiln was added to the studio.

When I started using seed beads (for the Native American inspired pieces) I taught myself bead weaving and brought home a bead loom.

When I decided to add copper to my gourd art- I taught myself metal smithing which added a jewelers saw and torch to my tool box and a jewelry section to my ETSY shop.

Jewelry led to the need for inexpensive chain –which lead to learning to Viking Weave.

One thing always leads to the next- and a new adventure begins…

Additional policies and FAQs
All items are hand made by me in my Missouri studio. Items may be similar but no two are alike. Items sold in sets or as pairs might very slightly.

Gourds are dried vegetables (a lot like a pumpkin). They will show blemishes and hairline cracks from the natural growth and drying process.

Wine/Water jugs have a bee’s wax lining so they do not ship well in summer heat and may need to be treated when they arrive by warming in the sun and slowly turning the jug as the wax cools and recoats the inside of the jug. Do not store wine/water jugs in the sun or with the cork in.

Copper items are treated with paste car wax to protect the shine. The car wax will eventually wear off (because you will want to wear your item a lot!) so you may want to wash the item in a vinegar solution to restore the shine and apply a new coat of wax.
