Art in everyday objects!

My clay journey began in 2011. Not with making, but with helping my sister (who had then ventured into clay) market her work using social media, events and my personal networks. I also interacted with a few other potters during the time. I was already playing around with beads and jewelry making, and also developed a keen interest in the medium of clay due to my association.

Around 2013-14, I took a few starter classes in jewelry and clay and self learnt using tutorials online. I began my clay journey at Clay Station in Bangalore, and continued in Manassas, Virginia (2013) and then at Higher Fire Studios, in San Jose. From 2015-2018, I also volunteered and was part of the staff teaching intro classes. I also conducted one session on surface decoration.

in 2018, I moved to Northern Virginia and began looking for a studio. In 2019, I began attending classes at Lorton Workhouse. Late into 2019, I got into Alexandria Clay Coop and am currently trying to develop my body of work in cone 6, continuing my surface decoration techniques and explorations.

My interest in clay started with polymer clay and I learnt with VA artist Cindy Silas. I then moved onto clay and have learnt with Dan Dermer, Jamie Meador, Linda Mau, Elaine Pinkernell, Bruno Kark, Sam Taylor, Mark Shapiro, Steven Hill and Ben Carter. I attended Penland in 2016 for an intensive wood-fired ceramics session and also a residential session at La Ceramique in Cordes-sur-Ciel, France with German ceramic artist, Fritz Rossmann.

I especially enjoy playing with textures, sgrafitto, carving, altered forms and color and sometimes get carried away. I like the idea of creating art on everyday objects and using surfaces as a canvas, since I've always been interested in color and design.

In 2020, my goal is to make a mug for each day. Follow @365handmademugs on Instagram on my journey! And get yourself, your family or a friend a handmade mug and make your/their day! Your morning brew will taste so much better in a handmade creation! :-)

I'm the creator, marketer, designer, photographer all rolled into one! I love making things - that's how my journey creating jewelry and pots started. Now, it's more like an addiction. I can't stop myself. I enjoy playing with color, texture, forms.

Frequently asked questions
Custom and personalized orders

I currently do not take custom orders, unless in very specific cases.

Sizing details

Due to the nature of ceramics and clay, it is very difficult to calculate exact sizing. Please note that products will vary by a few cms depending on shrinkage rates.

Gift wrapping and packaging

I can gift wrap items at an additional cost to cover the material. However, please add a note when ordering so I can add it to the shipping. When packaging items, I take extreme care and use a lot of paper, shredded paper and bubble wrap. Please do try and reuse the bubble wrap for other purposes at home so it does not land up in the landfills.

Wholesale availability

I am open to doing some of the pieces in larger numbers. Especially planters, mugs, and small shot glasses as return gifts for birthdays/weddings etc. Please message me to discuss. Please note that these take time and I suggest starting the process at least 2 months before the date when you need the actual product.
