Announcement   Hello! My name is Anna.
Over 20 years ago I fell in love with wearable art that I could make with my own two hands and beads soon became part of the adventure.
Since then, I had the amazing experience of working in a privately owned full service bead store for several years, several years ago. There I developed a keen appreciation for the many styles and disciplines of bead work and wire work.
It may seem that the beads have become the entire adventure, but wait!
Seasonally I do manage to divert a little time and creative energy back toward my roots in fiber creations to make cozy, fun and funky scarves to offer to you.
Thank you for visiting my little shop. =)
Enjoy!

*All items come from a smoke free, animal free home.

Very charming necklace featuring a beautiful cluster yellow and red beads that look like little bell shaped flowers. So sweet. The contrast of colors is perfect! I'm sure to get compliments on this one! Thanks Anna!

About

annalexis

Hello! My name is Anna.
Around 20 years ago I fell in love with wearable art that I could make with my own two hands—such mentally and physically satisfying creative problem solving adventures!
• I hand select all my beads…
I prefer natural stone beads with imperfections and interesting “orphan” beads. I love the creative challenge involved with that class of bead, as well as the personal challenge to break from perfectionism with the noble purpose of celebrating unconventional beauty. I spend a lot of creative time choosing how best to frame, arrange and present the worthy qualities of each bead. I do, however, also appreciate the sharper lines of the more intensely manufactured beads that have been fine-tuned with purpose like crystal beads, seed beads, delicas, and pressed or faceted glass beads.
• Very few repeats in my shop…
Nearly all of my pieces are one-of-a-kind… My eclectic and sizeable bead collection has been amassed over several years by way of many vendors and sources, including salvaging prize pieces from old jewelry or clothing. Often I can’t repeat a jewelry piece even if I want to simply because my supplies are limited, either by design or happenstance.
• I am largely self-taught, but had the opportunity of a lifetime working at a locally owned and operated bead store where I had access to some of the most talented and creative minds in the Willamette valley and beyond: patrons and coworkers alike. There I was able to directly observe creative problem solving in action with many different styles and disciplines of beadwork, soon adding my own acquired skills and natural talents to the mix. Like many other small businesses, this bead store fell to the pressures of the bad economy, but I am so grateful to have been a part of that precious family.

The story of my yarn collection and the creating of my scarves is very similar to the story of my beads…
• I hand select all my yarns and decorative accents/ fringe materials whether they be salvaged, reused, repurposed, or pristine yarns acquired anywhere from garage sales to tiny local yarn boutiques.
• I make use of a yarn in my personal inventory until I run out of it, and that is usually the end of the story for that particular yarn color or style.
• I prefer to use multiple yarns and fibers in each knit or crochet scarf I make; a unique blend of textures and colors intended for the sensations of lusciousness and coziness, fashion and utility. Any yarns I use on their own have to be extra special—soft and sturdy wear-quality.
• My knit and crochet skills are self-taught and inspired by the driving purpose to produce a beautiful and useful wardrobe accessory.

I am constantly inspired by the shapes, colors and textures in nature, both domestic and exotic in culture, and find myself driven to create representation of these elements in wearable form, so that I can take their essence with me wherever I go.
