Announcement   ***IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT COMBINED SHIPPING RATES BELOW - PLEASE READ!!

First, Welcome to my shop! I hope you will please 'favorite' my shop so you can quickly come back to see what new things I've added in the future. Take a look around, I've got yarn as well as crochet tools. Any questions -don't hesitate to ask. Thank you so much for stopping by!

***Here is how the combined shipping calculator works...and doesn't work. Instructions to possibly save you money, PLEASE READ!

First, when I post a new listing I weigh that item with packing materials included.
If you buy one item the shipping calculation for that order will be perfect because that is the actual weight to ship one item with its packing material. However, when you buy say three items for example, it now figures the total shipping weight by 3, which might be a little over the actual shipping weight because remember its including the packing materials for 3 items.

Second, Etsy allows me to ship up to 16 oz by 1st Class Mail, but when it hits 17 oz suddenly it has to figure the price for Priority Mail. So this explains a sudden jump when it hits that threshold.

EXAMPLE: If you put 3 things in your shopping cart that each have a shipping weight of 6oz, (Etsy see's this as 18oz total) and calculates the ship rate based on an 18 oz package, which is just over the 1lb weight, so it must figure the USPS Priority weight at the 1 to 2 lb ship rate. But in reality when I pack them all together in a single package with only 1 set of packing materials, the total weight is about 15 or 16 oz, which means they could in reality ship by 1st Class Mail.

But I am not allowed to change the shipping method without your consent, even if I know you were not given the correct shipping quotes to make your selection from. So that means I have to ship by Priority Mail, even though I know you could have shipped by 1st Class and saved you a few bucks at least. In the past when this has happened I tried to contact the buyer to get permission to change it, then issued a refund for the difference. But sometimes there isn't time to contact the buyer because I am ready to pack and go to the post office right away, or I try to contact them but they don't get back to me in time.

SO, HERE IS WHAT YOU NEED TO DO TO SAVE MONEY... if you are buying 2 or more items PLEASE look at the shipping costs and options carefully and contact me immediately after placing your order to ask me to ship by the cheapest method. If you do this, I will look for the best deal and issue you a refund once the package ships. If you don't contact me then I will ship by the method selected at checkout.

Thank You!

About

"My name is Anna, and I'm Addicted to Yarn"

I love yarn. I can't visit a store that carries yarn without stopping in that department to pet the yarn. Yes, I pet the yarn. I'm drawn to yarn by the colors but then I've got to to touch every skein, cake or hank that I see. I then have to purchase at least some of it, usually way more then I need for my next project. This probably makes me a bit of a yarn hoarder. But my yarn is not hid away in a pile somewhere, I have each one bagged in clear poly bags and stacked neatly on an endless number of shelves taking up every inch of wall space in my craft room, displayed so that I can see them and be inspired.

I don't really just hoard the yarn, I use it too. I have at least 5 WIP's (works in progress) going at any given moment. I make lots of personal items for myself and gifts for my grandchildren and friends, and in between every personal item I make, I also make one child's blanket that I donate to a local organization that works with abused & neglected children in trauma. For this reason, when I see pretty yarn that would make a nice child's blanket I tend to buy a ton of it. I can't possibly use all of the yarn I buy because I don't have that much lifetime left, ha ha, but I can't seem to stop myself.

So.....I opened this Etsy shop to help me move some of the excess yarn that I couldn't seem to stop myself from buying when I fall in love with it. I enjoyed that experience so much that I became an official yarn retailer. I now stock yarns from many different manufacturers and even crochet hooks and supplies. So please shop around and know that 90% of the yarn that I have available for sale was once a yarn that inspired me to make a blanket for a child in need of a little kindness from a stranger.

I've been crocheting for almost 50 years. I crochet as a form of relaxation, and even learned to do what I call 'Crochet Meditation'. Some might say its impossible to crochet and meditate, but I have managed to do it. I'm also addicted to yarn. ;-)

  • Furls Company

I'm a huge Furls Crochet fan, because they practically changed my life with their crochet hooks that allowed my arthritic hands to crochet again. For this reason I felt compelled to become a Furls retailer so I could share my love of their products with crocheters who suffer from arthritis like me.

Frequently asked questions
Do you combine shipping?

YES! However I need to share IMPORTANT details about how the combined shipping calculator works...and doesn't work.

What you need to know to save money on shipping...

This section doesn't allow sufficient space for those details so I have put all the details in my shop announcement and in a post on facebook that you can read here:

http://bit.ly/CombinedShipping

How long after I pay for my order before you ship it?

**SHIPPING DELAY THIS WEEK. Orders places now through Easter will be shipped on Monday Apr 22nd.

I normally try to ship all orders, other then custom made items, are shipped within 1 business day [Mon-Fri not including holidays]. I am located in Colorado, so during the snowy season there is a chance I wont make it through the snow to the post office because the road is impassable. That's rare, but it can happen.

If I will be away from my shop for a few days I will leave my shop open to allow shopping in my absence, but will change my shipping settings to show no shipping until my return date. In this event I also post it in my shop announcements, so shoppers know it before purchasing something they need asap.

Are your yarn colorways discontinued by the manufacture?

Often they are, simply because I tend to buy way too much when I find a new color I want to make something with and also because manufactures change colorways by the season. So if you fell in love with a particular colorway that is no longer available, or you ran short on your project...I may be your perfect source to get enough to finish your next project.

If I buy a yarn then it turns out I don't like the color once its delivered, can I return it?

I understand that this will happen once in a while. I try to get pictures in the appropriate light so you can see the true colors, and some self-striping yarns look a little different from skein/cake to skein/cake, or your monitor shows a color different then it really is. So, if that happens, you can contact me within 3 days of delivery to request to return it. I will provide you with return instructions. Once it is received in its original condition (within 7 days) I will refund your purchase price, (not including shipping fee's). Please be sure to keep the yarn bagged so it does not pick up any strong scents from your home that might make it un-sellable when returned.

I am sensitive to smells, and pets, how are your yarns stored?

Every single skein, cake or hank of yarn is stored in a clear bag so it will not pick up any dust, dirt, or scents from my home. So an smell would be whatever came the manufacturer. All of my yarn lives in a smoke-free home, in a pet-free environment.

Do you ship outside of the US?

At this time I am shipping internationally on a case by case basis because the most recent orders for outside the US ended up costing me way more then Etsy was collecting to cover the costs. So until Etsy fixes the international shipping calculator issue I will only process international orders manually so I can calculate the shipping costs myself. Message me if you wish to be approved for international shipments.

Do you offer Free Local Pick-up?

I sure do! If you are in the local area, just contact me prior to checkout so I can give you a special code to enter at checkout that will give you FREE Shipping. Then we will communicate through the Etsy message system to exchange phone/text numbers so we can arrange a time for you to pick up your order.
