Searching Southern Indiana for Fab Vintage Finds
I have been a serious thrift shopper since the 1980s (when I was very young, of course! -- you could say I was a thrift shopping "prodigy" -- ahem). I have always loved vintage from the 1940s, 50s and 60s. All the stuff I loved was widely available in the 1980s because "normal" people wanted their home to look like the homes on tv shows like Dallas or Dynasty -- no one seemed to be looking for vintage Pyrex or Pixieware. Even midcentury modern wasn't on the radar yet.
I have never stopped searching for incredible vintage stuff and since opening my shop, I buy anything that is wonderful - even if it isn't something I personally want -- because I know that someone out there in Etsyland will love it. It's a great feeling connecting people with well-made charming nostalgic items. Vintage items are better made than the stuff you see in stores today. Adding vintage items to your home can really add pop to your decor while making you smile!
The photos you see are some of my favorite vintage finds from around my home:
-A small portion of my ever-growing vintage Santa Head Mug collection (my younger son has been known to exclaim, "No! Not more Santa heads!" when I bring new ones home)
-Part of another ever-growing collection of small-sized vintage comic books (Charlie Brown, Beetle Bailey, Hi and Lois, Wizard of Id, Mad Magazine books, Heathcliff, Family Circus and more). My two boys love these. They are easy and fun to collect. We also have a shelf of them in our upstairs bathroom where they get frequent use.
-My beloved PY anthropomorphic cookie jar and cream and sugar set that I purchased for $10 (!!!) at a flea market in 1988. Not in perfect shape, but I never care about that. Back when I could find Holt Howard PixieWare for a song - now I can't afford it :(
-Vintage wrapping paper and greeting cards which I loooove, together with some vintage family photos. I love anything vintage Christmas -- you can't beat it for charm and loveliness. In fact, my Christmas addiction can be a problem so I sell quite a bit here. I don't want to be that wacky lady who spends months putting up hundreds of Christmas decorations and months taking them down! I happy to share the love with my buyers!
