Self-taught designer from a long line of women couturiers

I've been sewing since I was a little girl (this point hasn't changed much either). More precisely, my first tests were on a mini Bernina offered by my aunt Denise who had a sewing machine store.

I have always seen my family members work with their hands: my mother is a talented knitter, her mother too. My father works with wood, he makes furniture of all kinds and had even done the whole kitchen of our apartment. My paternal grandmother, Antonia, also had a Bernina machine and made dresses for my Barbies. Like all children, it seemed natural to me to do like the "grown-ups". I discovered long after that many of my ancestors on my mother's side were fashion designers. Seafarers' wives, they lived off their jobs when their husbands were at sea.

Knitting did not excite me at the time because it was too slow. On the other hand, I quickly discovered that I could make a skirt for my doll by cutting two pieces of an old sweatshirt and making just two seams.

We went to see my grandmother Antonia twice a year. I loved watching movies in costumes with her, like Angélique and Sissi. That's where my passion for period costumes comes from, I think. Looking at the beautiful dresses of the actresses pleased me much more than the stories!

I started doing "serious" sewing by creating period dresses for my dolls. With the money raised by babysitting in the summer of my 16th birthday, I bought myself a luxury porcelain doll and made her a princess wardrobe.

At 17, I tried to make a dress, from a boss of the trade. This led me to various discoveries: sewing for real people and much more difficult than for dolls, and patterns made for the greatest number are not very well adapted to special cases, and lead to many retouching.

At the same time, as I was not too bad at school, I joined a textile engineering school, to stay in the theme. I learned a lot of useful things about fibers, weaving techniques, knitting... In 2001 I graduated, got married and started working in an embroidery company as a logistics manager. I loved my job, working in a small family business and being in contact with such beautiful products. In 2004, I gave birth to my three children, which kept me busy in addition to my job.

In 2006, we all went to Thailand for almost 4 years. It was a great experience and an opportunity to follow a pattern training. Every day, while the children were at school from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., I would run to follow the classes of a Thaie model making school. Added to my many years of experience in sewing, making mistakes and learning how to avoid them, finally allowed me to do what I wanted: create beautiful clothes, with neat finishes, from the measurements of my clients.

So I opened my Etsy shop, and I also worked for expatriate women who had a multitude of parties and balls for which they needed outfits.

After returning to France, I opened another shop on alittlemarket.com. I also had to take a "food" job to cope with the cost of living at 5 in France.
The loss of this job was an opportunity to embark 300% on the adventure of transforming my passion into a "real job".
